Narrative Resume for George E. Gorman *************@*****.*** 434-***-****

-Personal Note: I am a senior who has worked a number of years and who would now like to find meaningful employment in the Charlottesville, VA, area. I am very energetic and enthusiastic about continuing to work and I have no desire to fully retire unless my circumstances change. In order to avoid that, I work out at a gym 3 to 4 times a week. I consider myself a strong communicator and I never meet a stranger. I have a significant positive orientation and if you don’t like the accordion, we may not get along, for I play it in a band that gives me great pleasure.

-I have a BA in Social Science/Sociology and I graduated college having earned the designation,

“Distinguished Military Graduate,” thereby having earned a Regular Army Commission as a second lieutenant. I graduated Ranger School and Airborne School and was assigned to Fort Bragg.

-I spent four years in the military at Fort Bragg with the 82 nd

Airborne Division and the 18

th

Airborne

Corps, both in Infantry and Military Police. By the way, I am also an Army brat. Meantime I married and we have accumulated many years of anniversaries, along with three children and three grandchildren, of which we are very proud. Following the military I spent a number of years in logistics management, including a stint as Warehouse Manager for Adidas in South Carolina. I ended my logistics experience as General Manager of a third-party distribution operation in Virginia. Then began my very rewarding adventure as a United Methodist Pastor in Virginia, from which I retired effective July 2022. My seminary experience was with Duke Divinity School at Duke University. I took a Clinical Pastoral Education course (chaplaincy) at Wake-Med Hospital in Raleigh, NC, a trauma I center. During my ministry I did volunteer work as a hospice and hospital chaplain.

-As an aside, before ministry, I spent 11 years working a second job as a blue-collar worker in a large retail/wholesale greenhouse operation, where I learned a variety of jobs, from retail sales to the care of plants. I also interacted with the public and local businesses through making multiple deliveries and pick-ups via van and trucks.

-I am now living in Charlottesville, Virginia, in the Belmont neighborhood, with my wife and my adult daughter. We are very happy to be in Central Virginia.

-I can’t tune up a car, but I can certainly write with creativity and meticulousness as necessary. And I carry with me a sense of humor on my journey. And I avoid negativity. I know I would prove to be an effective ambassador for whomever I work for.

-Please feel free to text, email or call me and I will answer any questions you may have. I would appreciate the opportunity to have an interview.

-Ending on a personal note: All legal and moral work is noble, but I would like to engage in work that gives me purpose. There are a variety of things that would be very satisfying. I like to drive anytime and anywhere local or overnight, so work, e.g., as a medical courier would be attractive to me. I am not interested in temporary work, unless it has the potential for permanence. Regards, George Gorman
