Registered Nurse
August 2003-April 2013
Labor and Delivery Unit
Elmhurst Hospital, Queens, New York
As a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery, I had the opportunity to work with a wonderful team of registered nurses, doctor and surgeons whose sole passion was to provide quality of care to mothers and their newborns.
In my role I was liable for performing and documenting all elements of nursing care and responsibilities in multiple care areas such as triage, antepartum, labor and delivery, operating room and recovery room. In each of them, I was able to master my strong assessment skills by determining necessary patient care, plan interventions, administer medications as ordered, perform evaluations of medical plans, and complete discharges to postpartum units and/or home.
Also as a delivery nurse, I had the responsibility of receiving and providing the initial care to newborns while assessing any special needs during their first hour of life, in combination with maternal support during the delivery process.
