Key member of site leadership representing QC.
Managed the QC Laboratory to support manufacturing and customers, both internal and external. Managed a team of technicians and ensured that all molding and testing was completed to ensure on-time delivery.
Familiarized with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 to ensure compliance with the standard; functioned as the main contact for the DE QC lab for both internal and external audits. I was the QC contact for ISO 9001:2015 internal and external audits.
Centralized the storage for all lab files including calibration certificates, PO’s, monthly verifications, test results. Held Kaizen events to improve the overall efficiency in the lab regarding equipment layout, flow, and work areas.
Utilized root cause analysis to address customer issues and improve performance. Worked across departments to verify procedures were being implemented and followed.
Played an integral role in saving a $1 MM/year program that was close to being lost after 15 years due to a competitive threat. Resolved misunderstandings regarding FDA requirements as well as specified release criteria. Was able to reclaim $250k from non-conforming material.
Communicated monthly regarding customer complaints, quality issues/returns, concerns related to the Quality Management System to company leadership and operations management. Served as the liaison for the Delaware Quality team to upper management.
Created and maintained training matrix to keep track of all QC tech training updates and qualifications. Participated in proficiency testing between Techmer sites. Completed verification testing monthly and coordinated with the TN quality group.
Updated the lab to Techmer standards, including quality release criteria on any engineered compounds for correct retain retention, conditioning parameters, color specifications, pre-release approvals, and any Certificate of Analysis requirements. Ensured all the proper ASTM guidelines were followed.
Established digital forms to be used during molding and testing for data collection, ensuring that all data required as per the ASTM procedures would be recorded. Performed form verification to confirm correctly functioning documents. Developed visual work instructions used in conjunction with the forms.
Coordinated with outside testing sources, such as UL, to ensure customer testing requirements were met in a timely manner.
Technical Service Engineer, Techmer PM, New Castle, Delaware August 2017 – March 2019
Reported to Director of Technology. Played a key role in developing products using a broad range of engineering resins. Communicated with sales, customers, and critical departments to provide the customer with products for any applications.
Directly supported sales and customers to formulate or identify existing products for a defined need or application, including various TPU and other TPE products.
Ensured that products met regulatory requirements including ASTM callouts, UL yellow card, FDA, or ISO. Coordinated to ensure testing was completed both internally and externally. Qualified products with UL.
Collaborated with QC to utilize root cause analysis to improve material performance.
Finalized equipment specifications and layout for a ZSK 26 development line, $1.2 MM project.
Identified processes that could be improved with the addition of powder resin, tracking GP, percent uptime, shrinkage, and QC testing.
Process Engineer, Coperion Corporation, Sewell, New Jersey February 2012 – August 2017
Reported to Director of Process Technology, US. Supported customers and sales to develop commercially viable processes, design research and production equipment, for projects ranging in costs from $500k to over $10 MM each for novel applications.
Coordinated, planned, and conducted pilot plant testing to establish process feasibility for twin screw extruders.
Designed processing systems for a wide range of products up to and including food applications, PVC, highly filled engineered compounds, and various TPE products.
Scaled up pilot test results to commercial lines to aid in sales specifications for processes ranging from plastics applications to food.
Supported customers after machine sales to ensure success by troubleshooting processes, developing new screw designs, analyzing customer data.
