Knowledge of Avimark, Animal Intelligence, E Vet, WDMS, Windows XP Systems, HESKA, IDEXX. Oversee, manage and execute studies as written by research scientist/ PI on approved protocols
Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing kennels along with proper animal handling, restraint, grooming, bathing, trimming nails and exercising.
Administer pre/post-operative and routine treatments/medications for animals as instructed or required by the Veterinarian.
Assisted Veterinarians in various medical procedures such as surgery preparation, equipment set up, prepare IV lines and monitors such as ECG, BP and SPO2,
Venipuncture perform intravenous and arterial catheterization, intubation of endotracheal, nasogastric/orogastric tubes, collect samples for parasitology tests and other diagnostic specimens.
Emergencies: GDV, Pyo, heat casualties, envenomation, HBC, rodenticide ingestion, blood /FFP transfusions. Rabies suspect removal as well as necropsy all end procedure research animals
Perform routine dentals, wound care, bandaging, injections, assist with ultrasound, radiographs, CT, MRI, as we as rehabilitation therapy: laser, hydro and physical therapy including wet/dry treadmill
Administer vaccinations and treat animals for diseases. Fill prescriptions as directed by the Veterinarian. Package animal specimens for laboratory pickups as well as Rabies suspect cases.
Ensure complete and accurate maintenance of animals’ records including reception duties: check in and check out as well as payment collections.
Research Surgeon: Perform femur segmental defects as well as carotid, jugular and femoral catheterization. Perform tourniquet application, hemorrhage as well as limb cooling to various species as required by approved research protocols.
Perform immunohistochemical and histochemical methods for assessing soft tissue, bone injury and regeneration as well as Western Blot, RNA, DNA and Bacterial colonization,
Build, create and prepare all teaching material for Veterinary Technician courses in Blackboard portal to include: Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Procedures, Anatomy & Physiology, Exotics, Laboratory Animal, Pharmacology, Dentistry Techniques, Small Animal Nursing, Laboratory Procedures and Surgical procedures.
Give didactic and laboratory instruction to students, set up & break down lab and administer lab practical exams for all vet tech courses
Maintain all DEA controlled substance logs and protocols, instruct students in use of controlled substance logs including maintaining manual and electronic records
Instruct students on patient medical records, cage sheets, prescription and proper SOAP writing as well as schedule kennel duty rotation for each sequence
Create all SOP’s for Kennel Duty, SOAPs and animal physical exam/intakes, Schedule off site field trips for students to acquire required skills as well as prepare students for VTNE
Maintain student attendance, grades and skills in CREAM and Blackboard
