Identifying patient with two patient identifier.

Responsible for the direct patient care of complex patient in the NICU unit.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized quality care and safety to the assigned group of babies and their parents.

Follow high standards of nursing care in all aspects of the neonatal unit.

Focus on infection control measures like prevention of nosocomial infection, following universal precautions, bio-medical waste management and extra care barrier nursing care, adherent to the hospital infection control policies.

Undertake all forms of safe transportation of neonates.

Handling admission / discharge, transfer of neonates with proper documentation.

Communicates effectively with parents and health care workers.

Maintenance of equipment and devices with appropriate reports and records.

Prepare the baby for various surgeries like Cardiac, Gastrology, Urology and General surgeries.

Giving care to babies during post-operative period like assessment of complications

(Hemorrhage and infection), assessment and management of pain and fluid.

Insertion of Nasogastric / Orogastrictubes and administration of Rylestube to feed the baby.

Assist with the preparation of total parental nutrition with complete aseptic technique under laminar airflow.

Handling and managing babies with congenital anomalies like Tracheoesophageal fistula, congenital heart disease, Pierre Robin syndrome, Choanal Atresia, endorectalanomalies, Cleft lip and palate, club foot etc.

Handling and managing babies with other medical problems like respiratory distress syndrome, infant of diabetic mother, HIV, Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), Seizure disorder, extreme premature babies etc.

Care of babies with wounds, drains and under phototherapy.

Providing care after colostomy surgery.

Practice strict aseptic techniques while performing procedures like administering injections, suctioning, peripheral and central venous / arterial / umbilical cannulations, dressing, preparation of IV fluids, exchange transfusion, blood transfusion etc.

Assist with neonatal resuscitation and intubations.
