Laid out electrical design systems for industrial equipment/components, chemical plants, manufacturing, commercial industries, nuclear facilities, and instructional buildings.

Transmission & Distributions:

Using Revit for electrical system designs:

Created and coordinated electrical equipment plans for low, medium, and high voltage power distribution system.

Electrical/mechanical Designer & Construction Administration for this project: Assisted lead engineers with creating and coordinating electrical & mechanical equipment plans for the electrical system design of a new 54-mgd pulp & paper mill station design/build project. The project included five large pumps, 10 pulp & paper mills and two escalators; controlled by VFDs, an instrumentation system to provide equipment control, data monitoring and communication from the MWRA Operations and Control Center, and a substantial site security system. The project also included an assembly of 3000A low voltage switchgear with automatic transfer controls and a 1000kW diesel-fueled standby generator installed within the pump station. Noise and aesthetics were a paramount concern for this pump station, which presented many engineering challenges.

Electrical:

Project, Wastewater: Terrible Creek WWTP Expansion, Town of Fuquay-Varina, NC

This expansion project resulted in a new 3.0-mgd biological nutrient removal wastewater treatment facility for the Town including an influent pump station, flow equalization, preliminary treatment facility, BNR tanks and blowers, final clarifiers, filters, and UVV disinfection. A new administration building was also provided for this new $27M facility. The electrical distribution system consisted of a 3000A main-tie-main switchgear assembly connected to the electric utility and a 1500kw standby engine-generator set.

Ford, Bacon & Davis Consultants Engineers– Morrisville, NC

Electrical/Mechanical- HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Alarm Designer (Revit MEP & AutoCAD-Contractor)

Electrical Designer:

Assisted lead engineers with creating and coordinating electrical equipment plans for pulp and paper mills design packages, including identifying motor operated valves (MOVs), local control station (LCS), and disconnect switches (DSW). Prepared single line & riser diagram from P&ID for PLCs and Instrumentation., Developed electrical panel schedules in excel program and exported into AutoCAD using Autotable program. Projects included Butler 69KV upgrade, Vineland, New Jersey, and many others.

Project Atlantic City Electric (ACE), NJ, Substation Upgrade:

A new 69kV three breaker ring bus substations, adjacent to the Butler-South Millville 69kV circuit to interconnect with (existing substation-w2-039). The Upgrade total estimated was $12,700,000 and took 36 months to complete. Supported lead engineers with creating and coordinating this substation design envelopes; including the preparation of single line diagrams, generated other electrical drawings, layouts elevations, conduit plan, cable tray, cable trench, grounding plans and site utilities plans.

SAP: Materials Management System

Managed new electrical and mechanical parts entry and created part records to be used on sub-assemblies.

Bridge/Structural Designer (Full time position-work done in Microstation-V8i & AutoCAD) Responsibilities included preparing structural plans for highway bridges, culverts, steel girders, pre-stressed concrete girders, pedestrian bridges, industrial & residential buildings and preparing bill of materials for reinforcing steel, concrete quantities; and analyzing Cogo computation runs for curved bridges.

Projects Included:

Cooper River Bridge Replacement, Charleston, SC.

Design 840 feet long ramp structure, utilizing 79-inch bulb tee pre-stressed girder sections at 14’-2” spacing. Ramp was designed without deck joints (except at bridge ends). Post-tensioned bent caps were utilized on drilled piers and columns, (Projected cost $600 Million).

Widening of I-40 over Alston Avenue, 99-B03 (16, 17) NCDOT, Durham County, NC Dual three-span Type III pre-stressed girder superstructure on curved alignment. The bridge was widened 18 feet towards the median side.

Ramp 2CD over I-77, 00-B05, R-2248D, Mecklenburg County, NC. Three-span continuous plate girder structure for this project. The span arrangement was goofy; Spans A & C are long, and Span B is short. This bridge is flared; the roadway flares from 11.4m to 13.723m. Flare caused by 1.8m shoulder widening on the left side and a partial spiral made straight on the right side.
