JOB DUTIES:
GROUND CONTROL:
Responsible for ground inspections, including inspections to make sure landfill pit is at a 4 to 1 grade to ensure that it does not go off of the liner.
Inspections of slopes (cracks, possible slough-age), roads (potholes, road deterioration, instability and rebuild), cell (wall stability, cracks, holes in liner, water erosion, trenches, dewatering pit, water flow direction, floor stability)
When weather and adverse conditions exist, sanding the roadways to ensure safe road access and always ensure two ways of access to the landfill cell at all times. To determine if the area has the stability to hold the machine and the vibration you would inspect the type of dirt/material, the previous and current weather conditions, the repose (angle of slope), the weight of the machine, whether it has tracks or tires, etc.
Responsible for greasing & maintenance of all of the landfills mobile equipment. I am responsible for inspection and arranging a mobile equipment maintenance service for the landfill.
Edge of landfill, inspection for cracks which could indicate for possible slough-age, if cracks exist corrective action would be to barricade/berm off area to prevent operation in an unsafe situation, if needed an outside engineer/geologist is brought in to determine what variation of corrective action should take place. Land gets inspected the surface is hard and underneath becomes unstable so you start getting little cracks in the surface and when they appear, you inspect the depth of the crack the depth represents the severity of the slough-age. If it is surface level you use a dozer to cut it out, but if it is deep, you used the excavator to dig out to safe level.
WORK SITE SAFETY INSPECTIONS:
Inspections start at the entry point of the cell, the road condition, erosion of possible rain and adverse weather condition, cell condition in order to ensure proper drainage, rips in liner, slougage, exit cell, road way, things carried off of the road, contaminated material being carried off of the road way by the trucks, top of the landfill berm, for same as above, check 3 phase generator, check pump submiserable pump, check frac tanks, check the depth of the tanks, h2s readings, hydrogen sulfide, 22 surrounding check wells for contamination,
Road Cell Generator Pump frac tanks equipment, before and after and as you interact in the area
Fuel, fluids, battery, voltage output testing- operational order- depth of fluids, gas vapors (h2s)-good working order
During equipment inspections I would check fluid levels, window wipers, seat belts, alarms, horns, lights, breaks, tires, a complete machine walk around, etc. and emergency measures.

JOB DUTIES:
GROUND CONTROL:
Responsible for, including inspections for slopes (cracks, possible slough-age), roads (potholes, road deterioration, instability and rebuild), pit areas (wall stability, water flow direction, floor stability, berms are proper height) and under all raw shale belts (return rollers present, clean, intact, spinning freely) all are maintained to be sufficiently clean, stable and free of debris/spillage. I am responsible for all water drainage on mine property, use of both electric and diesel pumps ranging from 3 inch to 12 in in size. Kind of material, weather condition, repose, weight of machine
When weather and adverse conditions exist sanding and gaveling the road ways to ensure safe mine access and always ensure two ways of access to the mine floor at all times. To determine if the area has the stability to hold the machine and the vibration you would inspect the type of dirt/material, the previous and current weather conditions, the repose (angle of slope), the weight of the machine, whether it has tracks or tires, etc.
Responsible for greasing & maintenance of all of raw shale conveyor equipment, inspect drive pulley of all raw shale belts to make sure all drive belts are to proper tension and drive guards in place. I am responsible for inspection and arranging a mobile equipment maintenance service for the mining pit area.
Inspection of push off area above the pit, inspection for cracks which could indicate for possible slough-age, if cracks exist corrective action would be to barricade/berm off area to prevent operation in an unsafe situation, if needed an outside engineer/geologist is brought in to determine what variation of corrective action should take place. Land gets shale dust and fines built up from the push off and it starts getting water in it and lubes it up, so the surface is hard and underneath becomes unstable so you start getting little cracks in the surface and when they appear, you inspect the depth of the crack the depth represents the severity of the slough-age. If it is surface level you use a dozer to cut it out, but if it is deep, you pump water to it and create a controlled slide.
WORK SITE SAFETY INSPECTIONS:
On my second day of the job I was given the take of completing a full MSHA mock survey of the complete mine as well as product handling, the shop, fuel island and all equipment. During my inspection I identified over 30 separate MSHA code violations with 12 of those violations being a S&S, including live electric wires 408 volt 3-phase within 5 feet of water, I was then placed in charge of correcting every violation and arranging with an electrician to complete what I was not authorized to do. I made arrangements with each department and re-educated them on inspections, an MSHA refresher course was issued, I complete a full MSHA mock survey of every department weekly. Being a senior operator I complete a full MSHA inspection daily from the top of the silos to the bottom (of the raw shale silo- which is production) as well as the top of the mine to the pit floor. All violations are reported to maintenance supervisor and the plant manager and corrective action is taken and re-inspection is completed.
Inspections start at the top of the raw shale silos all way to the pit floor for pre and post shift and as needed thought the day if returning to that area. In the silos I inspect belts, decks, shaker screens and shoots for leaks, breaks, tears. Walkways are inspected to ensure safe passage, stability and no foreign materials are in walk way, bag house is inspected for leaks, to ensure pulsing for cleaning of bags and scavengers screws.
I then proceed down the belts to check the walkway for safe passage to cone building where I check the cone crusher and scalping screen for spillage, oil leakage, adequate lighting, ensuring warning signals sound before machine starts, check an additional bag house as described above. Checking condition of the building due to the shaking of the equipment to ensure stability and structural integrity that the build remains intact. Finish belt inspection and exit the cone building where I inspect all the belts going down to the stamler, where it is inspected leaks, cracks, oil temperature, make sure carbide bit teeth and holders are in place, chain drives for guarding, scavenger chain tail pulley
