Summary

Recently-retired, experienced public affairs/communications and marketing specialist seeks to continue career on a free-lance basis.

My experience encompasses writing, editing and marketing at two federal organizations: the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Government Printing Office, Superintendent of Documents (GPO/SUDOCS).

The IRS, the revenue service for the United States government with 80,000 employees, is responsible for collecting and administering the Internal Revenue Code, the main body of the federal statutory tax law. I managed and coordinated high-priority projects and promoted awareness and service-wide education of major taxpayer and employee tax administration and compliance initiatives.

At the GPO/SUDOCS, the Government Publishing Office (GPO), the organization responsible for publishing and disseminating official and authentic federal government publications, I marketed thousands of important federal government agency products and services to the general public and the business community.

Before entering government service, I had a successful 20-year career as a newspaper executive in large, medium and small newspapers/markets.

During my career, I have been involved with many types of communications products and distribution channels. I’m an entrepreneurial, self-starter, who can work independently or as a member of a team.

Experience/Federal Government

GPO/SUDOCS September 1992-January 2002

SUDOCS is involved with disseminating and selling to the public thousands of information products and services for all three branches of the U.S. Government.

Wrote, edited and distributed marketing products on behalf of all agencies of the government, including selling print products for electronic distribution.

Supported the Federal Depository Library Program of 1,150 libraries across the United States.

Experience/Newspaper Publishing February 1972-January 1992
