POSITION: REGIONAL QUANTITIES MANAGER (GHA-EASTERN REGION)
A: GENERAL DUTIES; To review and supervise quantity surveying activities at
both pre-contract and post-contract as well as coordinate
the activities of the Quantity Surveying in the Region.
(i). Pre-contract
(a) Review cost analysis by studying cost data compiled from completed
projects and prepares cost plans
(b) Advices on contractual procedures and methods
(c) Studies & finalises draft tender documents prepared by subordinates
(d) Participates in tender negotiations
(e) Participates in selecting a successful tenderer for the award of a
contract( Evaluation of tenders)
(f) Studies & finalises draft contract documents prepared by subordinates
(g) Collates cost iputs for the preparation of unit rates
(ii). Post-contract
(a) Vets construction valuation work undertaken by subordinates
(b) Supervises the preparation of bills of variations including pricing and
agreeing accounts with contractors and consultants
(c) Provide cost advice on alternative use of materials and changes in
specification.
(d) Prepares final accounts in agreement with contractors & consultants
(e) Provides expert evidence in arbitrations and disputes
B: SUPERVISORY DUTIES
(a). Interprets conditions of service to and handles welfare problems of immediate subordinates and (where necessary) consults with
superior or appropriate Divisions.
(b). Identifies the training needs of immediate subordinates and
organize or recommend training for them.
(c). Appraises the performance of immediate subordinates
