Great Steps Orthotics and Prosthetics - Front Office/Referral Specialist (February 2019 - October 2020)

Shortly after the initial training period, responsibilities increased from Front Office Receptionist to also managing Referrals. Both positions require patient contact, scheduling, answering telephones, printing daily paperwork, scanning visit notes, and preparing documents for upcoming appointments. While the Front Office is directed more toward initial patient contact prior to their visit, helping walk in patients, working with lab technicians for repairs and replacement parts and communication with transportation companies, the Referral Specialist monitors and disperses incoming electronic correspondences such as patient referrals, care provider notes, prescriptions, demographics and insurance approval and denials. While communication with Practitioners, Clinical Assistants, Billing Specialists, Facility Managers and Patients is an everyday occurrence in both areas, the Referral Specialist primarily prioritizes, enters, scans and forwards incoming information as needed while also handling End of Visit tasks such as scheduling follow up appointments, obtaining signatures for services provided, preparing satisfaction questionnaires, addressing billing questions, collecting payments and ordering supplies. Also, due to the specific nature of the call, and in order to maintain a positive relationship, special attention was given to particular accounts like the St. Cloud Hospital and St. Cloud VA by the Referral Specialist, giving immediate response to urgent patient referral requests and scheduling needs, as well as making accommodations for care both inside and outside of the referring clinic.

Health Partners Central Minnesota Clinics – Clinic Assistant (October 2017 – January 2019)

As a Clinic Assistant, numerous tasks are completed throughout the day at the request of care providers and nurses to ensure the best overall patient experience before, during and after their visit. Calls would vary depending on department from verifying demographic information, scheduling appointments, requests to send reminders and test results, nurse triage and medication management. Whether patients are needing medical, dental, surgical, behavioral health, newborn or geriatric care, it all begins with the Clinic Assistant.

Back to Health Acupuncture and Chiropractic – Post Chiropractic Therapy Director, C.A. and X-Ray Assistant (June 2017 – October 2017)

Daily operational obligations include assisting patients with scheduling, check in/out, obtaining vital signs, updating Electronic Medical Records and chart notes, billing, collections and claim resolution, creating new patient files and discharge notices and personalizing financial plans. As the therapy director, specifically designated responsibilities for post chiropractic treatments would also include definitive positioning of Low-Level Laser, Traction Table placement, Ice application, Acupuncture Stimulation Device removal and providing after care instructions. Beyond that, per recommendation and request of the owner and Chiropractor Dr. Jeremiah Bursch, himself, a State of MN Limited X-Ray Operator Certification was obtained through the MN Chiropractic Association, granting the ability to accurately measure patients to reduce radiation exposure, properly prepare x-ray film cartridges, maintain precise chemical levels in film processor and develop x-ray films ensuring the highest standards of radiographic quality were met.
