Medical Receptionist II/ Service Rep

Kaiser Permanente - Rancho Cucamonga, CA

August 1982 to August 2016

Customer Service: Handling all patient complaints and working with patients on coverage and verifying Insurance eligibility. Worked with Kaiser Member Services to give Quality Service to our members. Call Center 10yrs. Booking and Canceling appts all day Long, we updated demographics, we booked for the clinics the patient was assigned to. All referrals were handled through Call Center, we confirmed appointments on all providers and departments daily. I averaged any where from 100-150 calls a day .

We also took messages for our providers that requested calls from doctors . Check in desk at at front Reception Area :

Daily we would check in patients that had Appointments, Nurse visits, Triage, well baby visits. We updated patient demographics, I would reschedule appts. I checked in patients for their Lab Work and directed them to Lab area. We handled all scanning and faxing for different areas for our providers. We distributed documents patient dropped off to be signed by their provider on a daily basis, we worked closely with Workers COMP dept. overhead paging for emergencies called 911 when instructed to do so . Answering heavy phone call volume .

Odered supplies as needed for front desk, capable of lifting 50-70lbs when due. Worked closely with our venders.

CASHIERING: this was a big part of front check in taking in cash etc, for co-pays at time of registration, payments for Lab work, DME, and other fee’s if they’re were any. Each morning we took our money bags and keys for our cash drawer, balancing money on a daily routine, making deposits and preparing for pick up from Brinks. I was responsible for my own Cash drawer, and working with Support Service department .

Medical Records: I was trained to pull charts for pts. I then downloaded to Micro Film, extracted charts that were in Archieves, in order to reinstate. Then at that time I would include all current forms and update demographics. This would reinstate the pts. That had not been seen for awhile .

PBX: Operator switchboard, transferred all phones calls and some included hand written message taken

for all providers and Staff. Overhead paging system on a daily basis, and made phone calls to 911 when needed .10 yrs

Drug/ Alcohol Service Rep: 17 yrs.

checking in patients for evaluation daily, making charts cashering taking in payments, extreme cash flow and depositing it properly, making appointments for family members to see providers. ER Dept: checking in patients and getting information at times from family members, Directing to proper module or area, banding pt. Wrist in order to identify patients in ER. heavy pt.
