VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
1000 Hands Playground
Volunteer builds coordinated by Wayne Lurix at Cincinnati Recreation Commission with Leathers and Associates http://www.playgroundsbyleathers.com/ Construction Captain for 5 builds: Mt. Washington, Dunham Recreation Center, Northside, Roselawn, and Sawyer Point.
As a captain we were responsible for keeping the volunteers assigned to duties that gave them ownership over the project while completing the build in 4 days. Leathers and Associates felt they could push new concepts at us as they knew Cincinnati had the same captains turn out every single time. There were around 7 of us that would come together every time a playground build was announced.

Volunteered with Phoenix of New Orleans https://www.facebook.com/rebuildnola/ I volunteered for a week to assist in the rebuild after Katrina. I worked with Americorps volunteers and stayed in their dorm. I mainly assisted with plumbing and drywall work, aiding in coordinating other volunteers while sharing my knowledge with the staff of Phoenix. They had a limited knowledge of home building and repair but the biggest hearts and desire to help.
