3/15/2003 – 12/5/08 ESG INTERNATIONAL assigned to Progress Energy @ Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, New Hill, NC

Supervisor: Tony Manes (Safe Shutdown / Fire Protection Focus Group)

Senior Mechanical Designer: Working under the engineering design section in the Fire Protection Focus Group.

During the transition to the NFPA 805 Licensing Basis and the Re-validation of the Safe Shutdown analysis in case of fire several plant modifications are required to bring the plant fully under the new program. The bulk of the work involves rerouting cables due to violation of train separation in the same Fire Analysis area or the possibility of spurious actuation of equipment in a fire scenario to insure protection of at least one credited train for safe shutdown of the plant in case of fire. Involved in preparing design change package per the plant modification procedures including all the design document changes i.e. drawing changes, CCL changes, procedure changes, FSAR and Technical Specification changes. Working with operations, maintenance, system engineering, planning and field to resolve any comments. Then implementing the modifications through closure.

7/98 - 8/30/2002 ESG INTERNATIONAL assigned to Progress Energy @ Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, New Hill, NC

Senior Mechanical Designer: Working down the backlog of Engineering Service Request (ESR) items at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. This involves researching plant-engineering request for plant modifications to determine their feasibility as a design change package. Preparing a design change package per the plant modification procedures including all the design document changes i.e. drawing changes, operations and maintenance procedure changes, FSAR and Technical Specification changes. Working with operations, maintenance, and system engineering to resolve any comments and implementing the modification through closure.

Involved in the Design review for the Steam Generator Replacement outage. Bechtel Power did the engineering and construction. Worked with Bechtel Field Engineers on final walk downs for configuration verification on final turnover of the Steam Generators.

Checking Configuration Control drawings for their accurate incorporation of field completed design change modifications. The review process included a history analysis of the drawing to determine an accurate reflection of plant configuration for control room use.

Technical review of plant modifications to ensure that the applicable design requirements, such as design basis, NRC requirements, codes & standards are correctly translated into the associated design documents (i.e., drawings, specifications, and procedures). Interface between Engineering, Operations and Maintenance Units to resolve any problems encountered during Engineering’s review of the modifications

Senior Mechanical Piping Designer: Responsible for the design of minor and major modification projects to the Harris Nuclear Power Plant.
