In good standing with MOL and Public Health by Complying with the Duty Clause of the OSH Act, including US Federal Regulation for all 11 facilities

Managed all WSIB Claims from start to finish which includes accident report, investigation, being actively involved, documentation, any red flags, facilitate RTW for associates. Managed Appeal hearings with the success of money saved, associates returning back to work full duties /modified, no loss time. Reduced injuries

Hands on approach to lead, mentor, supervise, monitor and train all associates companywide regarding Health & Safety Compliance/Prevention with the proper tools, programs, policies and procedures which are implemented and achieved by using safety talks, presentations, actively getting associates involved for continuous improvement

Responsibilities

Worked Directly under the Director of Health & Safety Environmental, covering 11 facilities Canada /US

Monthly inspections and meetings/minutes are up to date with follow up on hazards that need to be corrected. Internally and externally

Prepared policies and procedures, follow up yearly if changes need to be made.

Create all PowerPoint presentations for training, provided H&S training to ensure the quality of service is according to program standards. Update matrix to make sure all certificates are valid (ex: Forklift, JHSC, First Aid)

Work with maintenance team and plant associates to see how we can improve workflow safely and to avoid workplace accidents/incidents. (MSD)

Work with WSPS (Workplace Safety & Prevention Service) to make sure in compliance with MOL

Human Resource to conduct accurate assessment of eligibility work, using new hire checklist list to make sure all areas are covered, training, benefits, payroll, Dayforce /Ceridian software

Employee confidentiality, tracking of performance, manage improve communication, company culture, handle conflicts & disciplinary actions, hire/fire

Work with WSIB on claims, follow ups with employees, accident/incident reports, form 7, return to work program, letters to appeal decisions, modified duties, etc.

Oversee employee transitions through the disability process, from filing a claim to returning to work.

Examine contributing factors to determine when and how an employee will return to work.

Review all applicable contractual, medical, and work-related documentation to determine claims eligibility.
