Mill Planner Manager Louisiana Pacific Corp. Thomasville, AL

• Responsible for the management of all hourly employees in shipping area as well as planning the weekly production of the plant. This consisted of daily interactions with corporate production personnel and communication with sales on what materials and volumes were needed, while maintaining a direct communication with local plant personnel to understand the many issues that arise on a daily basis. Remained flexible to those ever changing issues and demands.

• Responsible for all maintenance and shipping costs and worked within the area budget to deliver consistent quality and customer satisfaction.

• Conduct monthly safety meeting with the crew. Ensured the safe operation of the area with focus on employee self-awareness and awareness of others.

• Serve as the site contact for SAP and implementation of numerous upgrades.

• Focus on efficiency, uptime and reduction of changeovers where possible to prevent costly downtime.

Production Manager

• Responsible for the management of all aspects of the facility including production, production planning, shipping and receiving. In this role I have extensive knowledge of all SAP platforms from production planning through shipping.

• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the site through daily staff meetings and planning sessions to ensure that our site was meeting all internal and external customer request in a timely manner.

• Responsible for planning and coordinating our annual physical inventory for the site as well as our sister site in town.

• Developed a monthly budget with local accounting and met or exceeded that budget each month. This was accomplished through team building exercises with the maintenance and production crews and solicited their ideas and input on how to make the site more productive and efficient. We have had significant gains in this area from 65% uptime to at present in excess of 88% uptime.

Production Supervisor

• Responsible for the management of all hourly employees on site during the startup of the facility. This included the recruitment and hiring of both hourly and salaried staff. Once the plant was operational my responsibility included the oversight of ADEM requirements and reporting of any issues that were encountered.

• Responsible for all maintenance and production on shift and coordinated any repairs to minimalize downtime to the areas.

• Conducted monthly and daily shift safety meeting with the crew. Ensured the safe operation of the area with focus on employee self-awareness and awareness of others.

• Served as the site contact for the shop floor production reporting system, Wonderware.

• Responsibilities included Upsetting and Finishing 2.825 and 2.385 OCTG tubing, Heat Treating and Finishing 4.000” to 9.625” OCTG casing products.

This was a “Greenfield” site where I was the second salaried employee on site to monitor construction, hiring and training of 70 new employees.

July, 2006 - August 2011 Georgia Pacific Corp. Pennington, AL

Production Superintendent

• Responsible for managing the onsite 1MM square foot distribution center, bleached board shipping area and warehouse automation system as well as the warehouse management system. I had 72 hourly operators and 6 salaried direct reports.

• Developed area safety tactics and strategies and supported the sites behavior based safety program by being an active observer and ensuring that those I have responsibility for were active participants as well. OSHA incident rates were well below the industry average at ~1.5 OIR.

• Serve as the areas contractor administrator and planned the activities of those contractors ensuring all safety policies were followed at all times while maintaining cost for the area in terms of maintenance spending by month.

In this role my responsibilities also included a high focus on equipment reliability and uptime. This included both automation equipment and other motorized vehicles in the areas. Due to our focus and root cause analysis our uptime was increased by 18% and unplanned outages were decreased by 30%.

• Supported other automation system installations with Georgia Pacific as a SME (Subject Matter Expert). I used my knowledge and skill to ensure that all learning’s were shared across all sites as necessary.

April, 2000 - July 2006 Georgia Pacific Corp. Pennington, AL

Shipping Supervisor (Day)

• Responsible for the daily shipping production for both the distribution center but also the bleached board shipping area. Ensured that customer loads were loaded and completed in a timely manner and developed a matrix to let each crew know their achievements.

• Implemented the use of automated vehicles to store and retrieve finished good product within the distribution center. This decreased the labor force from a high of 64 to 28 once fully operational. As project manager and implementation champion the project delivered and is still delivering the expected results and in most cases is exceeding them.

• Served as the mill contact for the onsite warehouse management system as the system administrator. Implemented numerous modifications and led on multiple system upgrades with no business interruptions that were unplanned.

• Implemented an equipment strategy that ensured that all non-motorized equipment was maintained and issues resolved in a timely and cost effective manner. This plan utilized both contractors and in house mechanics to accomplish the tasks. This was a significant win for the area since the site is a unionized facility. By gaining support from all parties, the solution was very positive for the shipping areas.

November, 1985-April, 2000 Georgia Pacific Corp. Pennington, AL

Warehouse Operator

• Responsible for handling finished product with motorized lift truck. This included loading customer shipments, handling converting production and other materials with no damage or errors.

• Served as a temporary supervisor when salaried supervisor was out or as needed for other tasks that were outside my normal duties.

• Served from January, 1996 through April, 2000 as shift fire chief for the emergency response team. This included both firefighting activities as well as confined space rescue and high angle rescue. I obtained the level of basic EMT for the mill to ensure that all employees had access to quick and effective response to medical emergencies when they occurred.

• Served as a behavior based trainer and facilitator for the shipping area during my time as an operator as well.
