Responsibilities: Program / Procurement Quality Engineer

C-5A, Main Landing Gear and Brake System; EA-6A Flight Control Motor/Gear Actuators for Wing Slats and Wing Fold System. I was tasked to create First Article Inspection records for all in-house manufactured products I/A/W AS9102. All products received in-house from outside vendors/suppliers for proper certifications for processes performed and that required First Articles Inspections were performed. I would contact and request from vendors’ proper documentation to be supplied before products went into stores for issue to the manufacturing floor. Responsible for creating First Article Inspection documentation for all Government Spares manufactured in-house.

I was the first FOD manager at KSC. Performed inspections of the payload bay for the next launch. Inspected from the Quality Man. Required to perform supervisor duties many times in 12 years in the Shuttle processing division.

Commodities inspected ranged from; electronics, electrical, mechanical, aircraft overhaul, new aircraft manufacturing, outside auditing, itinerant inspector handling in excess 200 to 300 contracts, N.D.E. labs for compliance and inspections. Certified in non-destructive testing per Mil-STD-271E, NTR-1, ASNT, SNT-TC-1A and Mil-STD-410. NAVSHPS 250-1500, for radiographic reading of film for nuclear welding of pressure vessels and core baskets for subs and carriers. Worked to MIL-I-45208, MIL-Q-9858, DSAM 8200.1 and certified a quality Assurance specialist in the commodities of aerospace, mechanical, nuclear, and materials (construction type) and procurement quality assurance. Completed a course in contract administration. I also conducted external audits of aerospace, mechanical suppliers. I attended Frankford Arsenal for an 80hr. course on GD&T and was certified at the time to ANSI Y14.5.
