2019- 2020 Head of Radiology

Employed as Head of Radiology/RSM (Radiology Services Manager)– Naufar Wellness Centre 2019-2020.

Naufar is a specialized government purpose-built centre that focuses on the treatment and care provided to patients suffering from drug misuse and addiction. It is a wellness centre with over 127 residential suites treating inpatients as well as providing care and treatment to outpatients where clinical trials and methods of rehabilitation are used for evidence-based research studies.

I was brought into the role of Head of the Radiology department, which was left idle for 4 years before my arrival. I was responsible for department activation and bringing this project to completion and all requirements for operational status were carefully and precisely followed through during my management.

My main focus was to prepare the department to meet the National License requirements of Qatar, ensure all policies and procedures were written and approved, and all Health and Safety requirements necessary for the Radiology department were implemented.

I managed relations with external vendors and necessary Radiology/Physicist bodies to assist with the research focus of our department. My role included but was not limited to:

Managed all aspects of the Radiology department including leading the MRI department as MRI Clinical Specialist.

I managed the dosimetry for the Radiology and Dental services and ensured all appropriate staff were licensed to practice. This was carefully controlled by the RSO under my supervision and guidance.

Manage, plan and coordinate the activities of the Radiology Suite, while ensuring the highest quality of diagnostic imaging services. To provide individual neurophysiological assessments for the treatment of patients to gain an understanding of the neurobiology of addiction and assist these patients with individual prescribed care and treatment during their rehabilitation program at Naufar.

Worked closely with the Project Development team and Executive Management to ensure unit activation and process requirements were being met on time.

Implemented and monitored all safety measures associated with the imaging equipment in Radiology. This includes both radiation and MRI safety measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Compliance with regulatory requirements is essential, taking appropriate action where non- compliance is evident.

Ensure that all relevant reports are prepared timely and accurately, and meet the department's requirements, policies and standards.

Conduct random patient incident reports (RCA-Root core analysis) with other Heads of departments for non Radiology incidents to create a non-biased approach to incident findings and solutions/prevention to these incidents from reoccurring.

Conduct necessary research meetings and communications with external support bodies and vendors to ensure Naufar’s Research studies for Radiology receive professional and expert knowledge and support.

In my last posts as Radiology Manager, I managed all aspects of Radiation Quality and compliances, and also hired dedicated radiation safety officers

(RSO) to work with me and manage any radiation queries in my absence.

My position in Naufar as Head of Radiology also involved ensuring all radiation licencing and requirements for the Radiology and dental departments were met. I employed an RSO to assist me and be responsible for any queries in my absence.

Radiology Unit Manager/RSM role with Alliance Medical Diagnostic Imaging, based within Clane General Hospital(now known as UPMC), Ireland. (February 2017- February 2019).
