I answer the phones, and receive phone calls from many different Hospitals, Providers, Physicians, Family Members, Social Workers, Police Officers from all Counties, Nurses, Visitors, Discharged Patients, Patients in Crisis Positions, and I refer Patients to outside Medical and Specialty Clinics. I fax/scan documents to appropriate legal offices, healthcare and other agencies, print labels and make sure all documents are labeled, Orders and restocks supplies for the department or hospital ward, prepares paper work for admissions, discharges and transfers of patients, coordinate arrangements for patient transportation by ambulance, pull and file charts, medical lab sheets, organize medical records, assist with preparation of payroll and scheduling documents, types forms, letters, memoranda, etc. I take and transcribe Doctors orders, case histories, physical examination notes, and related permanent medical records information, and reports containing a wide variety of specialized medical terminology. I am an expert of the computer to request lab work, diet orders, x-rays, medical records, medication amounts, and typing unit census. I assist our Business Office with the charges for services provided for the patients, gathers and inputs appropriate information in the computer to complete billing for case management/ financial eligibility purposes.
