WORK EXPERIENCE

Principal Network Engineer August 2019 - Present

Virtual Radiologic LLC. Eden Prairie, MN

• Manage, direct, and supervise the activities of a team of four network engineers.

• Conducted annual performance reviews and coached and mentored the network staff.

• Managed and configured Palo Alto firewalls.

• Collaborated with peers from other disciplines within the IT department, providing thought and technical leadership relative to network and security initiatives defined by the Chief Information Officer.

• Responsible for defining the network architecture, engineering, and security standards for the entire network Infrastructure.

• Responsible for ensuring a five nines network uptime for all clinical and mission critical applications.

• Conducted a thorough review and documented the data center and corporate HQ networks. Designed, planned, and oversaw the implementation of a series of changes to improve the network performance, stability, and remedy network element configuration issues.

• Introduced policies, procedures, and standards to move the network team to a process driven approach to their work and to maintain a high standard of engineering best practices.

• Designed and planned a major upgrade for two production data centers. Moving the incumbent architecture from a chassis-based collapsed core environment to a Cisco VXLAN Spine/Leaf data center infrastructure.

• Created and implemented a new comprehensive IP addressing and VLAN name and numbering schema.

• Designed, planned, and implemented a wireless overlay based on the Aruba product suite.

• Created a three-year roadmap to retire and replace Cisco network hardware and appliances that were beyond their vendor support lifecycle.

• Implemented new technology, hardware and centralized monitoring and management tools into the environment to improve meantime to repair, manage assets, and integrate into existing tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds and Service now.

• Leading member CDW’s mid-West network infrastructure and data center engineering team, working primarily with Cisco Systems portfolio of networking products.

• Managed and directed team of senior to mid-level network engineers based in the Madison and Minneapolis branch offices.
