South Louisiana Community College – Located in Lafayette, Louisiana has a student population of 5,000. The campus in New Iberia has a student population of 600 the satellite campuses of Franklin and Hessemer 50 to 100 students each. The Acadiana Technical College Lafayette a population of 1,000 and the Acadiana Technical Collage New Iberia a population of 500. The position is designated as a Safety Officer / Security Coordinator for these Two Year Community Colleges, their satellite campuses and Technical Colleges. Consolidation of all seven Technical Schools in a 50 mile radius is set for July 1st 2012. This will be a total of ten schools under one state system student population will be 10,000 staff & faculty 660. The position is responsible for safety and security for campuses of Community Colleges and Technical Colleges in Lafayette, New Iberia, Franklin, Opelousas, Crowley, Saint Martinville, Ville Platte & Abbeville, Louisiana. This is an armed police position with Safety Audit Officer Duties. The tasks include but are not limited to the monitoring of camera system, unarmed guard service at locations of Lafayette, New Iberia & Franklin, Crowley, Ville Platte, Saint Martinville & Opelousas, La. The position requires coordination with local law enforcement and District Attorneys of an eight Parish area. In addition it requires coordination with local law enforcement in four parish area. Also coordination of yearly safety audit for the state of Louisiana Office of Risk Management. This task requires the coordination of an Armed Security Unit for EOC evacuations training and maintaining LWIN State Police radios. Police style training for security officers, executive staff and certifications for improvement for contract security officers & the supervision of two 3A police officers with State Police Commissions. The supervision of five police cadets. The position requires reporting directly to Vice Chancellor Rudy Gonzales & Chancellor Dr. Natalie Harder.

On July 1st, 2012 Gov. Bobby Jindal (Current Governor of the State of Louisiana; signed into law the consolidation of 10 schools in a fifty mile radius {eight parishes} placing all technical and two year colleges under one roof). All law enforcement responsibilities will fall under the Chief of Police for SLCC.

Minimum Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree in criminal justice/law enforcement is required. Applicants must be sworn peace officers of the state of Louisiana in accordance with R.S. 17:1805. A qualified candidate will have at least eight total years’ experience in law enforcement four of which must include supervisory duties at an executive level.

Function & Scope: to provide the necessary management skills to assist in the direction of the police department staff and hired security of the college. Responsible for administrative and supervisory enforcement duties involving general and criminal regulations and institutional rules and regulations in order to provide for the protection, safety, and welfare of students, employees and property within the areas under the control and jurisdiction of South Louisiana Community College. Monitor a police cadet program to prepare students for a career in law enforcement.

Police Duties: Plans, organizes, and supervises police department activities. Officer will ensure that laws and ordinances are enforced and that public peace and safety are maintained. The Officer assures that personnel are assigned to shifts, working units, or special assignments which provide optimum effectiveness.

The officer directs development and maintenance of systems, records and legal documents that provide for the proper evaluation, control and documentation of Police department operations. Evaluates performance, appearance and conduct of police department personnel; gives advice and instruction concerning unusual phases of work.

Prepares and reviews various reports. The Safety Officer confers with local law enforcement agencies, court officials, government officials, and other officials on matters of mutual interest. He assists local police agencies in serving warrants on property within the areas under the control and jurisdiction of SLCC. He also speaks to groups and organizations interested in traffic, security, and criminal law enforcement. Safety duties: Provides for the implementation of the general safety plan and the attendant procedures, practices, rules, and standards. The Safety Officer issues directives that relate to the implementation and/or enforcement of the general safety plan and attendant procedures, practices, rules, and standards. Oversee the administration of the general safety plan and participates as necessary therein (revise incident/accident investigation reports, evaluates general safety plan, reviews safety audits, conducts safety meetings, etc.) He also ensures College compliance with federal, state regulations and college policies and procedures. Conducts safety inspections throughout campus to identify and correct potential safety hazards. The Safety Officer works with the Louisiana Department of administration, Office of Risk Management regarding their risk management programs and reporting requirements. He also performs related duties as assigned.

Civilian Police International – United States State Department – United Nations Mission in Kosovo: International Police Officer assigned to Internal Affairs Organized Crime Task Force United Nations Mission Kosovo: 2nded to the UN and assigned as an investigator working on cases related to organized crime; the Kosovo Police Force and government. The assignment required working under UN Mandate 1244. This task assignment required full immunity status in the emerging country of Kosovo.

UN CIVPOL ADMINISTRATON PILLAR: transferred to Personnel and Administration Office of Planning - Planning Officer: Tasked with transition planning for United Nations Police Officers (multi - national) downsizing for European Union take over & re-configuration mission in North Kosovo. Total exit transition 3,000 multinational officers and 1,028 American CIVPOL Officers - 2008 – Required travel and coordination with United Nations Administration Officials in Prishtina, Mitrovicka, Zuban Potock, Peja / Pec and all LOG Bases for the United Nations Mission In Kosovo. Worked in conjunction with national police officers from; Italy, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Jordon, China, India, Pakistan, Slovenia, Greece, Poland, United Kingdom, Argentina, Philippines, Spain, Romania, and France. In addition worked closely with the KFOR military advisor for the American General in charge of the country. The United Nations Ended the Mission December 10th 2008. Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Centre: - 611 Saint Landry Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70502. Security Team Leader: Responsible for the supervision of 14 security guards working 24 & 7. Administrative supervision inclusive but not limited to discipline, hiring, payroll, CCTV camera system and basic security of the hospital, the hospital staff, patients and visitors. In addition was responsible for training and coordination of certifications for all security officers. Drafted and coordinated the safety protocol for juvenile patients assigned to special medical floors in the hospital. Instituted & coordinated peer group interviews for new hires with Human Resources. This task assignment required working very closely with hospital staff, doctors, nurses, patients, family members and guests in a humanitarian capacity. This position also required working in tandem with the Human Resources section in the areas of discipline, hiring and terminations and the documentation process of security personnel.

This position required the supervision of four FTO trainers and all police officer recruits from date of academy until release from program unit. Terminations and discipline were coordinated with Human Resources and Civil Service using documentation from the FTO Unit. Corporal K-9 Narcotics Dog Handler: Responsible for the maintaining and handling of a Nationally Certified Narcotics Detector Dog. The dog was worked in the school system in coordination with the Lafayette Parish school board. Narcotics investigations were worked in coordination with Metro Narcotics, The La. State Police, DEA and all Federal Agency requests. K-9 Lolly placed #20 out 300 narcotics dogs in the national finals of 1987 in New Orleans, Louisiana. From: 1986 to 1989
