Opening and closing the facility; responding to visitor questions on park resources and the surrounding area. I assist WNPA with sales of books, posters, postcards, etc., on a daily basis. I balance daily sales and Money Bag, as well as secure all financial records. I also perform all administrative record keeping functions related to El MALPAIS IC. I provide roving interpretation to visitors on a variety of topics. I complete and submit trail patrol information and assist higher graded employees with collecting and recording other information such as weather, daily caving and visitor use statistics, and other data as assigned. I perform other intermittent duties such as minor trash pickup and trail maintenance as assigned. I deliver interpretive programs to educate visitors to the resources preserved at El Malpais National Monument. These programs cover a variety of topics and require research and development of program outlines. I assist in developing temporary exhibits and social media posts. I also provide safety information, respond to questions in person and by telephone and assist with the planning and preparation of park sponsored programs and special events.
