As a Benefits specialist for the State of Montana, I maintained enrollment on a variety of health plans for all state employees and retirees. Prepared educational materials, administered benefits, enrollment, ACA, COBRA as well life, Disability, and Retiree benefits. Processed midyear changes, new employee changes and enrolled retiree in retirement benefits. Used reports to monitor claims utilization. Assisted in health challenges and education on benefits offered employees.

I started out as a claims adjudicator I only to find my love for investigating and gathering medical records, trip reports and having conversations with providers a second love. I monitored the claims processing system to catch claims that would get stuck and then find solutions with provider outreach to ensure billing is correct, regarding modifiers, CPT, ICD codes as necessary. Within the first year, it was apparent that this line of business is just what I was looking for to challenge me and test me daily.
