Provide direct patient care to inpatient oncology population from young adult through elderly administering chemotherapy and medications for symptom management. Educate patients about the chemotherapy regimen, the rationale for treatment, and management of side effects. Patient care included medical and surgical patients on overflow basis. Counsel and support patients including their families about end of life care. Charge Nurse on second shift for four units that included staffing and patient placement decisions in collaboration with the House Officer. Mentored new staff and acted as a preceptor and a role model. Staff education and compliance monitoring of patient bedside blood glucose monitoring system.

As an Oncology Nurse Specialist, I worked in an outpatient chemotherapy infusion room providing direct care to patients that included the administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy using peripheral and central lines. Provided cared for patients on clinical trials. Ensured patient safety by preforming safety assessments, reviewing laboratory results, reviewing imaging results, and adverse events management. Collaborated with physicians and discussed dose modifications. Educated patients about the chemotherapy regimens, treatment rationales, and side effect management. Mentored new staff by acting as a preceptor and a role model. Cross-trained to cover the clinical coordinators that included telephone triage, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

(October 2015-current) As an Oncology Research Nurse Coordinator Senior, I managed the care of Oncology patients on clinical trials. Preformed screening activities, confirmed eligibility, patient enrollment, managed subject visits, monitored for adverse events/SAE’s, assessed the protocol for possible dose modifications, scheduled tests and visits per protocol, dispensed investigational drug, assessed subject investigational drug compliance, submitted severe adverse events, submitted data to electronic data capture systems, collected study samples and submitted samples to study per protocol, educated staff in new protocols, acted as a resource and team leader; submission of protocol deviations, and screened for the Oncology Molecular Tumor Board. Lead Research Coordinator on several studies including Phase 1 studies and other well-known trials such as NCI-MATCH and ASCO TAPUR. Involved in special projects including Audit CAPA workgroups, remote work task force group, Adverse Events workgroup, and Oncology Clinical Trials Task Force that looked at ways the staff can work more efficiently especially when working remotely.
