Senior Oracle Database Developer

Client: Department of Veterans Affairs - VBA (Veterans Benefits Administration)

●Wrote the Oracle PL/SQL standard document to be used as PL/SQL coding reference document

●Work assignment: Duplicate Data Merge Application (DDM): One of the main objectives of the DDM application is to eliminate duplicate records by merging, reconciling, and consolidating participants records flagged as duplicated in the VA Corporate database.

●Led the Database Development of the new DDM code. Data model type: hierarchical as opposed to relational. Database: VA Corporate Database.

●Attended requirements gathering and clarification meeting with peers.

●Attended VET360, Benefits EO/PD Daily Synch-up meeting in preparation of the BGS project.

●Reviewed and analyzed the old code to extract the DDM requirements. The requirements were also gathered by reviewing the DDM legacy output.

●Streamlined the very complex and challenging DDM packages to use oracle analytics and hierarchical functions. We went from 10k lines of codes to less than 2k by cleaning up and refactoring/rewriting major functionalities. Over 95% of the code were rewritten.

●Solved the performance issues with the creation of indexes and the rewriting of more than 90% of the original code. Also added the errors logging procedure for easy debugging and maintenance.

●Unit tested the new code by comparing results with the old code and legacy application

●Used the DDM tool to process merge/deactivation requests from the business client.

●Work assignment: Request for Architecture Change application (RFAC): Redesigned the RFAC database by creating intersection tables to solve de many to many relationships for the purpose of tracking historical data across all database environments. Refactored, streamlined and rewrote over 90% of the code. Merged 13 existing packages with over 60,000 lines into one package with less than 20,000 lines.
