Perform periodic maintenance and quality control activities in the laboratory and in the field to include fixes site collection and distribution sites as well as assisting with maintenance various facility systems as necessary.
Perform routine repairs on manufacturing, storage, measurement and test equipment as well as assisting with repairs of various facility systems as necessary.
Assist vendor service personal and laboratory staff in executing installation and validation (ie: Temperature Mapping of storage refrigerators, freezers and incubators) activities to include scheduling preventative maintenance and trouble shooting activities.
Document Quality Control, preventative maintenance, validation and repair activities to include vendor-performed maintenance. Ensure all vendor documentation of equipment maintenance is complete, accurate and in compliance with manufacturer’s directions and applicable activities.
Comply with applicable federal and state regulations, AABB Standards, ARCBS directives and Good Manufacturing Practices pertaining to blood banking and safety at all times. Complied to all safety procedures with personal safety equipment, when necessary, to prevent exposure to any infectious agents with blood products.
Maintained equipment inventory using CMMS (Maximo). Conducted annual inventory audits of multiple departments. Inventory included maintaining parts supplies for repairs and new equipment installation.
American Red Cross – Laboratory Technician II January, 2000 – April, 2008
Performed advanced manufacturing, processing, and testing procedures. Interpret test results on donor and hospital specimens and blood products while complying with the Clinical Laboratory Information Act (CLIA).
Consult and communicate with hospital transfusion staff when necessary to resolve any issues that arise.
Calibrate, perform, review and approve quality control on products, reagents, equipment, and various kits and maintain required records and files.
Communicate with National Testing Laboratory staff when necessary to resolve problems, facilitate sample shipment and clarify test data transmission issues.
Participate in the validation of hardware, software, instrumentation, test kits, and procedures as directed. Assist with the maintenance, repair, and validation of laboratory equipment.
Know and ensure compliance with applicable ARCBS directives, federal and state regulations, local policies and procedures pertaining to blood banking and safety. Adhere to quality assurance procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
City of Cayce Wastewater Treatment Plant – Laboratory Technician 1996 – 2000
Responsible for all laboratory procedures (wet chemistry) and compliance with state and federal regulations. Including daily analysis of wastewater prior to treatment and discharge. Obtained “C” Wastewater License.
Shealy Environmental Services, Inc. Columbia, SC – Organic Laboratory Chemist 1990 – 1996
Organic Extraction of industrial (public, private, and governmental) influent, effluent, and hazardous by-product (waste). Analysis of organic carbon and halides, experienced with gas chromatography. Participated as Quality Control leader and training employees.
