EXPERIENCE
Aug 2022 Starburst - Solution Architect
Present Starburst is the enterprise architecture of Trino, one of the premier Data
Warehouse and Lakehouse solutions on the market. It is an MPP engine which
federates data querying to a vast array of data sources, making it available to
end users and BI tools.
The Solution Architect role consists primarily of developing an account through to
delivering business value to the customer. Provisioning EKS and K8S clusters,
working with K9S, Helm and Docker.
July 2020 Longituder.com - Co-Founder
Aug 2022 The system was sold to a technology incubator, Longituder.com is a global
Logistics website which provides all flights between any origin and destination in
the world with up to two intermediary stops.
It is essentially a graph traversal matching arrival and departure schedules of all
the world’s flights, with information about the airline, type of flight, cargo / persons capacity, classes, special characteristics and functions available, etc.
Sept 2019 ArangoDB - Solution Architect
July 2020 ArangoDB is one of the premier, natively multi-model, massively scalable
distributed databases on the market. It is an integrated Graph, Document and Search solution, written in C++.
The is a presales role with special focus on understanding and defining the customers’ fundamental business challenges followed by creating the proof of concept needed for the technical and business win.
Personal projects: POCs and applications in the realm of fraud detection, knowledge graph - correlating the stock market with the prevailing sentiment of the moment, supply chain.
June 2015 Datastax - Solutions Engineer / Architect
July 2019 Presenting a comparative overview of NoSQL, distributed systems of data
engineering and data science at various events around the world and / or in front
of company’s prospective and existing customers.
Implementing Cassandra Enterprise real time solutions from conceptualizing the
data model to designing and programming POCs.
The most important project I was responsible for was an optimization of the entire
Global Air Routing System for the largest pharmaceutical distributor in the US.
April 2014 Anonysoft - Co-founder http://anonysoft.com
May 2015 The company developed a platform which enables instant video conference from
the web page, without a need for installation or registration, by using the Web RTC protocol. The system is capable of real-time distribution of information such as news, stock prices, ads, etc. to a virtually unlimited number of users. It was developed in Node JS / Websockets against a Redis back end.
March 2013 High 5 Games - Data Engineer/ Solution Architect
April 2014 Setup the company’s NoSQL solution Hadoop / HBase in Amazon’s EC-2
virtual Environment. Processing 1 Terabyte of data per month from the
company’s 4 million users around the world.
Designed, programmed and implemented the Online Payment System for the
company with a view on security, fraud detection and analytics through features
like Geo-Location and Device Profiling.
July 2012 - Simplus Cloud (a start-up mobile company in Brazil) - Solution Architect
Feb 2013 The company developed a very low-cost mobile based solution for backup,
sync-ing and real-time document sharing among its users. It creates a social
network which addresses basic needs of mobile device users across all
platforms Apple, Google, Windows Mobile, RIM. The technology is HTML 5 / File
API based with C# REST Services and SQL Server completing the
Model-View-Controller paradigm. Native components were developed for
contacts sharing backup and sync-ing between iOS, Android and Blackberry.
Feb 2012 - Louise Blouin Media – Director of Technical Solutions
June 2012 The company publishes www.artinfo.com which is comprised of a vast array of
Modules ranging from Drupal on the front-end to PHP, Java Spring as middle tier
and MySQL as the back-end. Designed and implemented the site’ s entire
indexed search based on the SOLR / Lucene engine and developed a number of
the Java Spring services.
April 2008 - IPos Systems - Solution Architect
Dec 2011 The company is involved in Credit Card Transaction Processing and POS
Terminal solutions. I developed a TSYS Integrated Payment Gateway which
takes proprietary protocols as input and maps them to EIS 1080/1081 (industry
standard).
The system provides a complete set of Web APIs essentially enabling any 3rd
party to develop any type of Online Transaction Processing ranging from
shopping carts to large file settlement processing. Hands-on programming of
.NET 4.0 WCF Services, SSL security and authentication, SQL Server 2008 data
model, stored procedures and functions, Java for Blackberry and Android.
June 2005 - Smith Barney/Citigroup - Solution Architect
April 2008 Implemented a Vendor Management and Tracking system which assessed the
security risks posed by the company’s clients. Initially designed as a management tool with exclusively human input the system was enhanced with the addition of a machine learning algorithm. It was designed and programmed using the open Source database MySQL, Tomcat Web Server and design patterns in Java in a Model-View-Controller approach.
Sept 2001 - Consultant - E-Payments and Credit Card Industry
June 2005 Companies for which I developed various systems or I consulted for include
Lipman, Verifone, Transend IT, First Data, Hypercom.
Was responsible for the business analysis, design and development of a system
to unify Transaction Processing in the Credit Card and Banking Industries. The
system unified the 3 main transaction processing Point Of Sale Terminal
platforms (VeriFone, Hypercom and Nurit) into a single interface. It is basically a
Java/J2EE and PowerBuilder 3-tier architecture against Oracle and MS SQL
Server databases. The direct result of that was reducing the time, expenses and
need for resources of a company to 1/3 of what they were before.
June 2000 - Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup (Margin Dept ) - Solution Architect
June 2001 Designed a comprehensive system for a new Financial Instrument: Loan Risk
Assessment against Equities Traded for Collateral.
The system consisted of an intranet front-end built in Java Servlets together with
a multi-threaded Java automatic E-Mail module. Automatic communication was
built using Sun’s Javamail (version 1.1.3) extension as well as IBM’s MQ
(Message Queue) Systems Java interface.
Feb 1997 - Guardian Life Insurance Co.
May 2000 As team leader established the course of development for both front-end and
back-end of the project – Integrated Proposal System. IPS constituted a
comprehensive solution for the company's Life and Medical Coverage business,
automatic the entire reporting and contracting documentation. Technologies employed include Oracle data modeling, front-end development in PowerBuilder, C programming of E-Mail through MAPI, API interfacing with Lotus Notes. The system was deployed to over 40 subsidiaries nation-wide and an extensive training program was designed as a result in order to implement virtually a new culture approach in the company’s actuarial business
Dec 1995 - CBS (consultant through Trecom).
Dec 1996 Developed a Rating Reporting System for TV programming management based
on data culled from Nielsen Rating Agency. The raw data was stored in a MS
SQL Server database and the reports were making extensive use pre-calculated
data through stored procedures, temporary tables and on-the-fly denormalization
against a PowerBuilder front-end.
June 1994 - Bell Atlantic (consultant through Trecom).
Dec 1995 Designed, developed and implemented a Management Decision Support System
in PowerBuilder against Oracle as part of a team of consultants. The application
managed a hierarchical structure describing the company's entire range of
operations and revolved around the need for extensive data entry as well
as the need for association of entire business structures on the fly. The result
was a very flexible system in which all it took to define business rules and real
time reporting abilities was a simple drag-and-drop functionality.
Sept 1993 - Merrill Lynch (consultant through Trecom).
June 1994 Developed a Credit Monitoring System that supervised transactions Merrill's
clients would conduct in the New York, London and Tokyo markets.
The front-end was developed in PowerBuilder against a Sybase 10 database. It
spanned across more than 20 screens and included hierarchical security to
accommodate various levels of management.
Various other computational efforts I have applied myself to include simulations
of airflows in 2D and 3D models of wings and aircraft, numerical methods
implementing mathematical transformations of different kinds, etc.
