The hospital is owned by Hudson Hospital Opco, known as CarePoint Health, a for-profit organization that also owns Bayonne Medical Center and Christ Hospital.

Provide leadership and direction for the Emergency Department staff in providing care to this patient population. Oversee the education and orientation of new and existing staff. Hackensack UMC is a 900-bed non-profit, research and teaching hospital located seven miles west of New York City, in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey, providing tertiary and healthcare needs for northern New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. HUMC is affiliated with the New Jersey Medical School of Rutgers University.

Interim Administrative Director for the Emergency Trauma Center (ETC)

Provided stability during the leadership transition phase of the ETC for the 85,000 patient visits per year. In collaboration with administration and the medical staff developed a set of goals that created the foundation for growth and positive direction for the Department.

Kent Hospital is a member hospital of the Care New England Health System. The second largest hospital in the state, Kent is 359-bed acute care hospital located in Warwick, RI, southwest of Providence. Kent is a teaching hospital and employs more than 2,300 employees and a medical staff of 600.

Interim Educator for the Emergency Department

Served as the primary educational resource to the Emergency Department with 71,000 annual visits. Developed new and revamped existing educational programs that supported a focus on standards of nursing practice, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction. Served as a role model and content expert for patient care activities and standards of practice.

■Developed and implemented a preceptor program for the department.

■Developed the didactic and practical components and implemented an orientation program for a cohort of new ED nurses.

Provided leadership and direction for the emergency department services of this 431 bed academic urban medical center in the Bronx in NYC. Reported to the Assistant Vice President of Nursing/Campus Administrator with responsibilities for patient care delivery for 77,000 annual emergency department visits. Established processes and promoted consistency for all major activities and processes including standards of practice, resource allocation, performance standards, employee engagement, community involvement, patient satisfaction, and internal and external alliance building.

Selected Accomplishments:

■Initiated major performance improvement projects with focus on improving Door-to-Doc times and overall triage efficiency and effectiveness. Actions implemented included introduction of daily/inter-shift huddles, role modeling of behavior, education, and sharing results.

■Established positive interdepartmental relationships with pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, and security as a means to tackle significant throughput challenges.

■Established educational initiatives with modules including The Triage Process, Patient care for DKA, and Care of the CHF patient.

■Worked successfully within the Montefiore system of four hospitals to treat and transfer patients as needed to assure patient safety and maintain Montefiore market share.

Completed one-year engagement at the Urgent Care Center, one of the newest ventures of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Opened in August 2014, the Center was the first affiliated external urgent care of BIDMC that provides care and critical patient access. Responsible for start-up activities in establishing market share, volume projection, achieving patient satisfaction, public relations, orienting and on-boarding medical, nursing, and clinical staff, establishing evaluation mechanism for nursing and clinical staff, counseling nursing and clinical staff, and establishing evaluation and assessment processes for Center patient care program.

GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL (UNIVERSAL HEALTH SERVICES), Washington, DC

Manager, Surgical Services

Managed nursing care delivered by a staff of 65 employees on 39 bed surgical inpatient unit at a 371-bed, for-profit, academic medical center with a medical staff of 875 and a nursing staff of 800. Nursing unit cared for patients post-operatively after surgeries including general, trauma, bariatric, vascular, ENT, thoracic and plastic.

Selected Accomplishments:

■Increased unit staffing productivity to 105% over six months by managing census, controlling NH/PD, and reducing overtime.

■Achieved improvement in HCAHPS score higher than 90% in three domains.

■Achieved zero CAUTIs and CLABSIs for six months.

■Served as a lecturer for hospital wide training in Service Excellence for employees.

■Led and received Bariatric Center of Excellence recertification through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.

Oversaw and directed Patient Access activities at a 284-bed, non profit, academic teaching hospital with five affiliated hospitals, a network of more than 1,700 physicians and a nursing staff of 1,200. The Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Center seeing 40,000 patients a year.

■Decreased Emergency Department Length of Stay (LOS) by eight hours over a period of 12 months.

■Instituted the hospital one-call admission process for referring physicians.

■Served as Nurse Administrator for emergency preparedness/disaster planning.

■Served as hospital representative to Boston Hospital Emergency Consortium and New England Disaster Consortium ensuring patient focused activities and hospital representation.

■Taught classes – emergency preparedness to medical staff and nurses, including Disaster Planning and Disaster Nursing.

Provided direct nursing care in a surgical setting at a 317-bed hospital and a Level II Trauma Center with 1,200 nurses on staff. Served as Private Scrub to a General Surgeon, Circulating Nurse, Pre- operative patient teaching, and Preceptor.
