Medical Transcriptionist • Broward General Medical Center Throughout my career I have transcribed just about every type of report, from Basic 4, to history and physicals, consultations, operative notes, discharge summaries. Areas of specialty include pediatric hematology/oncology, radiation oncology, special procedures. I have also edited speech recognition documents of all types.

Prior to 1995, I was a Civil Service worker employed by the VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA where I was trained in transcription. Initially I worked in pathology, and was later promoted to the medical records department, where I trained for an additional year in all areas of medical transcription. During my tenure with the VA, I applied for and was granted an Upward Mobility Scholarship. This afforded me the opportunity to attend school for respiratory therapy, a career I continued until September 2005, at which time I returned to the field of medical transcription.
