Experience
2021 – 2022
Manager – PetValu Regina, Sk
Manager of a retail store. Current duties include ordering and managing inventory, staff scheduling and customer service. I am required to coach my team on sales and customer interactions. I order new inventory weekly and conduct weekly scheduled inventory counts.
2015 – 2021
Manager Research and Appeals City of Regina
Started as a Senior Assessment Appraiser with the City in 2015. I was responsible for the valuation and support of value for residential properties, which included apartments and condominiums. Later, I moved into Commercial valuation and eventually accepted the position of Commercial Manager. Again, I was responsible for the valuation and defense of value for commercial properties within Regina. The City Assessment Branch underwent a reorganization and I became the Manager of Research and Appeals. This involved the modeling of all properties within the City of Regina, every four years. I worked with a team of three modelers who developed the models which were used to value properties. In addition to the modelers, I supervised a team that would support those values before tribunals. Property Assessment involves the annual appeals of assessment with requires extensive knowledge of The Cities Act and decisions for Assessment tribunals.
I needed to be familiar with the various publications produced by the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency, as well as assessment related decisions from the Saskatchewan Municipal Board, Assessment Appeals Committee and the Saskatchewan Court of Appeals.
2004 – 2015
Assessor Income Coordinator Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA)
Modeling and valuation of commercial properties to determine an estimate of market value for assessment purposes. The end result was for the determination of property taxes for municipalities across the province which used SAMA to determine property assessments. This would also involve taking calls from property owners as well as municipality administrators. As an income coordinator, I lead a group of senior appraisers in the modeling and valuation of commercial properties. As the income coordinator, I was responsible to lead this group in the support of value which involved preparing a valuation report and provide oral testimony and evidence before tribunals.
1998 – 2004
Assessor Industrial Assessor Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA)
Valuation of equipment and structures of oil and gas, mining and pipeline properties, for property tax purposes for rural municipalities. The valuation of these properties also involved the support or defense of value before Boards of Revisions and the Saskatchewan Municipal Board, Assessment Appeals Committee. Part of the requirements was also taking calls from property owners and administrators of municipalities to answer questions regarding assessment and valuation.
