I was ablle to gain five years of experience in the neurotrauma icu followed by five years in the burn icu at mercy hospital in springfield missouri. during my time in the burn UNIT, i also had the opportunity to crosstrain and work prn in the picu. my time in the picu helped me to gain valuable pediatric experience. while with the burn unit, i was also able TO WORK with pediatric pateints of all ages for burn and wound care. during my years as a bedside nurse in the various icu’s i honed my critical care skills and learned what it takes to earn the trust of a pateint and their family. these positions prepared me to be a nurse practioner as i developed a thorough knowedge base, critical thinking skills, and a love for learning.
