Skills

LEADERSHIP

In leadership roles, I take pride in creating an open environment in which every member feels they have the freedom to openly vocalize and suggest opinions. I treat all members of the team as equals and value their input. I recognize the strengths of each person on my team. I delegate tasks with team member’s strengths and weaknesses in mind, not only to have the most qualified person complete a suitable role but to encourage the sharing of how they completed the task with team members that are weaker in that skillset to improve the cross-functionality of the team and build in areas where they may experience challenges to achieve team resiliency, cohesiveness, communication, to achieve the highest possibility of success and that each team member at least learned one thing

PROBLEM - SOLVING

I am a natural problem solver and welcome any situations that require innovative, creative, and time-sensitive solutions. I tend to be an “out-of-the-box” thinker and boundary-pusher within reasonable limits

COMMUNICATION & INTERPERSONAL

I am effective at communicating ideas to others as well as being an active listener in conversations. I am open to giving and receiving critical feedback and demonstrate confidence when speaking in front of groups

ADAPTABLE

I have a wide variety of transferable skills in the areas of construction such as framing, mechanical, and electrical. In the aviation sector, I am qualified to rebuild jet engines and perform dimensional inspections adhering to extremely tight tolerances and precision measurement tools. I am also certified in two methods of non-destructive testing (NDT) to detect flaws/cracks in welds or on ferrous and non-ferrous metals and other materials using magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and liquid particle inspections (LPI) DETAIL-ORIENTED

The majority of my work experience has required high levels of time management, accurate documentation, and strict adherence to safety regulations/protocols Experience

Non-Destructive Testing & Dimensional Inspector- September 2017 – February 2018 Cadorath Aerospace Winnipeg MB

Interpret Aviation blueprints, drawings, standards, and specifications

Used approved methods to perform Non-Destructive Testing & Dimensional Inspections of aerospace parts to identify and confirm a high accuracy of dimensional tolerances and identify any flaws, cracks, and compromised welds using a multitude of different techniques such as Magnetic Particle Inspection & Liquid Penetrant Inspection

Identify defects utilizing the original equipment manufacturer’s approved methods and document to generate findings reports in accordance with Transport Canada Regulations Note: I had to leave the position due to having a medical device implanted that was not allowed to be near the high amperage and magnetism used in these processes. Signals & Communications Maintainer August 2007 – August 2016 Canadian Pacific Rail

On an average day of maintenance, I would be responsible for using sensitive electrical testing meters and equipment for time-specific periodical inspections (weekly, monthly, 90-day-180 & 360-day intervals) with no leeway to exceed the due date set by Transport Canada. I would obtain a TOP (track occupancy permit) for a limited amount of time to hold trains from entering the area. I would then test, inspect and, if required at that time (or when responding to a trouble call) troubleshoot and identify the faults and causes of abnormal readings and/or false activation of a stop signal for an inbound train that prevented a train from proceeding, or an active crossing warning system with no trains in the area that blocked access to motorists from using public roads (thus encouraging them to lift or go around the crossing gates creating an unsafe situation), or detect whether an electro-mechanical track switch out of alignment that could cause a derailment/train to train collisions, as possible consequences for example. I would then determine the required repair procedure, the parts, and possibly extra personnel needed to fix, retest & verify 100% that all the Signals & Communications (S&C) Department safety critical systems were working as intended. Finally, I would be required to sign off on the repair and follow-up inspections and be responsible for the work I and the extra personnel if any, completed.
