• Instructed students using lecture and demonstration, audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations. One thing that I need mention here is that tablets were required at IMSA, so I used them effectively in the classroom almost daily in some capacity.
• Executed daily operations of the school, as expected.
• Prepared objectives, syllabi, outlines for courses of study. I gave a teacher-made Study Guide for every major assessment, which helped improve student performance significantly.
• Wrote, designed and produced curricula, developed new courses, and wrote assessments.
• Assigned lessons and corrected homework.
• Was instrumental in getting students to participate in outside essay contests, producing many winners.
• Administered tests to evaluate pupil progress, recorded results and issued reports to inform parents of progress.
• Improved the quality of student writing as shown by their performance on SAT Essays and AP Exams.
• Kept attendance records.
• Trained four faculty members new to the school in the “IMSA” way.
• Maintained discipline in the classroom.
• Met with parents to discuss student progress and problems.
• Participated on four committees for advising and helping new faculty members.
• Participated in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
• Successfully worked with an eight-person team in designing curricula and establishing policies for the English Department, including Standards of Learning.
• Counseled students in adjustment and academic problems or just provided a “listening ear” for students who simply wished to talk—because of my background and training in psychology and educational psychology, I was especially suited for doing this.
• Successfully handled communication with students, parents, Resident Counselors and concerned others.
• Structured and maintained a classroom conducive to very effective learning.
• I also sponsored twenty-five student-directed independent research projects in my tenure at IMSA.
