The Sun Valley group is the largest grower and shipper of cut flowers in the United States, producing over 150
million stems on an annual basis. The company maintained an average employee base of approximately 600 team members
with that number climbing in excess of 1000 in Peak holiday periods. My role with the company served primary functions and
was a management position, reporting directly to a senior director of logistics.
During my time as Transportation manager my duties were widespread divided across multiple departments as well as
divisions with my primary areas of responsibility, the first area of responsibility I developed and implemented the logistics
solutions that met production demands while exceeding quality, cost and customer satisfaction. This included the import of raw
materials, management of in-transit inventory and product delivery. Duties included the continual analysis of shipping routes in
the implementation of proactive solutions that increased Revenue per stem, improved quality and reduced cost.
Advanced to Transportation Lead
This is where I started to develop trucking routes, establish rates and tracking of shipments as well as implementing a freight
payables system to monitor freight invoices.
