Visit with family looking at placing their family member in the nursing home-Inform family on the difference between the different payor sources and how to apply for Medicaid if needed-Explain to family about payments and the importance of timely payments-Responsible for ensuring all information was received and entered into the computer system on all patients so billing would go through on Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance, as well as private pay-Verified all primary and secondary insurance and Medicare to insures that policies are active-If any deductibles are in place make sure family was aware and paid all monies due-Assisted the family with filling out all information needed for LTC Medicaid application including, any extra property other then home, bank statements, income, expenses, vehicles, any transfers from the patients name to others, etc.-When all information was sent into DHS, I would call weekly for updates on the cases, any additional information needed I would get with family to receive this information before the deadline to ensure patient was approved-Would assist APS on any of their cases through DHS paperwork needed-Assisted patient's family with filling out rep payee forms for Social Security checks to be delivered to the nursing home. The monies would then be deposited to the patient trust account then the funds due were paid to the NH-Assisted the Nursing department and Social Workers to ensure 703's or any reviews needed were sent to OLTC so 704’s would be received and a copy sent to Medicaid so DHS could complete the financial part-Weekly billing was completed on computer system accurate for Medicare, Medicaid-Private Insurance billing was usually completed monthly or as insurance policy dictated-Aging report were printed and reviewed for accuracy-Calls would be made to ensure payments were made by families, insurance-I would call corporate to get an correcting made on errors in posting payments were made to wrong payor source or patient-Visited with the Administrator with any issues arise or aging problems to brainstorm a solution to the problem. (Family not paying, corrections not cleared)-Send any letters or email needed to family members to ensure paper trail is made for all communication.
