WORK EXPERIENCE SUMMARY

In recent years employment with the Federal Government was from October 29, 2006-October 29, 2010 at the Grand Canyon National Park and worked as a Visitor Use Assistant (VUA). This job had employees collect and handle monies from the public who visited the park. As a VUA, the job required: the sale of various types of passes for entry into all National Parks, conducting traffic control, use of a portable 2-way radio, informing the general public (while standing at the Rim of the canyon) about the flora, fauna, geology, and human history of the area, informing visitors of their personal safety, use of a federally owned vehicle, control and retrieval of inventory materials needed, and the wearing of a National Park uniform. It was also necessary to complete Five (V) Fundamental levels of training taught via use of Park Service computer programs and also train at their Harpers Ferry facility in West Virginia for one of the V Fundamental levels. With great regret, health issues of a family member made it necessary to return to California and terminate employment with the National Park Service.

Prior to the National Park Service, the primary type of employment (either direct or contract) was with defense or commercial manufactures such as Hamilton Sundstrand, Lockheed Skunk Works, or General Dynamics San Diego and Fort Worth Divisions to name of few. This experience entailed the following: blue print reading; auditing (on behalf of the companies mentioned above) which required travel throughout the U.S. for the contractual/ purchase order requirements of their suppliers for quality systems or quality programs; witnessing tests on subassembly valves; performing or witnessing piece part inspection with geometric position and tolerance specifications and use of precision tools; Non Destructive Testing (Liquid Penetrant, Mag Particle, Eddy Current, and Radiography) verification; Rockwell testing; photometric testing; knowledge of explosives; knowledge of electrostatic discharge; chemical etching; knowledge of statistical process control and collection of data while using a company supplied computer lap top; trained in NASA Soldering techniques; continuity testing of aircraft electrical cables; witnessing tensile testing of hardware fittings; metal processing verification; and inspection of composites such as rubber or thermal setting plastic material.
