RESPONSE HISTORY

Ebola-Epidemic Outbreak – Emergency Response Coordination Accomplishments Ebola response: December 2014 2017

Leadership provided and ensured that the Infection Prevention and Control Training Instructors received the required material; Support such as training space set up and logistical distribution is consistent with World Health Organisation Standards; Oversight on registration process provided and ensured that all clinical waste are collected and disposed of on a daily basis; Evaluation feedback related to food quality summarised and responded to accordingly, facility managed and logistics and procurement informed on daily stock level; Equipment and training supplies received and signed for on monthly basis.

Cross Border Function

Served as Cross Border Lead for ForeKambia Cross Border Committee (Sierra Leone and Guinea).

Ensured International Health Regulation (IHR) and best practices are maintained at Point of Entry (PoE) at the Gballamuya official Crossing Point in Kambia District.

Ensured that information (i.e. alerts, investigation reports, laboratory results, individual-level datasets, contact lists, teams' contact information, etc.) are shared and actioned on a daily basis.

Provided capacity support to Port health Officers on key IHR core-capacities like: surveillance, preparedness, human resource, risk communication, laboratory, and zoonotic events.

Provided support for the coordination of the cross-border Ebola, Cholera, and other priority diseases between Kambia district, Sierra Leone and Forécariah prefecture, Guinea

Collaborate with the WHO, UNIAL and IOM teams in both districts to ensure close cross-border collaboration and timely action

Ensure contacts from each other's district are followed even after crossing the border

Map organizations and infrastructure dedicated to the Ebola response on both sides of the border

Review process to obtain unrestricted cross-border movement for surveillance teams

Provided technical expertise in planning and monitoring of integrated disease surveillance and response activities

Provided technical expertise in effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of supplemental immunization activities (SIAs) especially Polio SIA using nOPV2 to improve quality.

Worked closely with district teams to ensure micro plans are updated at team and sub-district levels at least 7 days before the campaign starts.

Conduct daily monitoring of the vaccinators' teams and team supervisors and conduct household surveys (in process monitoring) during SIAs

Contribute to the distribution of advocacy and communication material to ensure that all levels of the immunization system are well informed about the novel oral polio vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) and also advocating influential community leaders to ensure program ownership and community participation

Provided Technical expertise in planning, implementation, and monitoring of routine immunization activities to increase coverage.

Conducted regular review of surveillance data (including from AVADAR, eSurv, NGOs…)
