Experience

SouthCoast Gynecologic Oncology January 2021-July 2021 Surgical Scheduler San Diego, CA

Responsible for Scheduling surgeries for a single doctor in a multiple doctor private office. Closely working with doctor and patients, ensuring all surgical candidates were well equipped with all information to go into surgery well prepared with any and all pre operative work up (I.e., Labs, imaging, etc.). Coordinated all surgeries with surgical schedule at surgical facility(ies) as well as ensured every patient had insurance verification and /or authorizations in place prior to scheduling surgery.

As additional exceptional patient care, I also created a system in which I would ensure every patient was well prepared on day before surgery by calling a few days prior as a follow up and sent emails with all details to prepare for “the big day”. I also made follow up calls to those patients who needed additional care prior to scheduling surgery and made necessary calls to help speed up process. Also, coordinated any and all “assist” cases and managed doctor’s schedule in Outlook calendar as well as add surgery schedules in All Scripts EMR.

UCSD Surgical Center of San Diego July 2019- March 2020

Physician Office Liaison San Diego, CA

Reviewed block utilization daily to release and/or fill unused block time by continually backfilling with other cases. I worked closely with our CEO, Director of Nursing, Operating Room Supervisor and Business Office Manager. I also took part in monthly facility growth meetings.

When communicating with physician offices, I sent daily/weekly email updates (on a secure email) and made monthly face to face visits to follow up on any assistance they may need to improve our relationships with our offices, which in turn helped us better care for our patients.

I worked closely with commercial insurances, worker’s compensation companies to ensure coverage to be current and valid for specific procedures. Ensured risk relationships and determination of patient responsibility with commercial insurance carriers. I also calculated co-payment, estimated co- insurances and communicated all patient responsibility in a timely manner.

When communicating with patients, I would ensure all information relayed to our facility by physician office was accurate and gave patients instructions of what to expect when arriving to our facility. I unfortunately did not have direct face to face contact with patients, which I love. However, I still was able to provide excellent and discreet patient care and assured complete patient privacy during every phone conversation.
