Manage the overall functions for the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and the safety of Saint Louis University campuses.

Emphasis on Community Based Policing, Diversity and Inclusion.

Essential responsibilities included collaborating with other University partners to coordinate security needs, event planning, staffing, risk management and emergency disaster preparedness.

Administered an $8.9 million budget.

Provided leadership, direction and performance management to assistant directors of Administration and Operations, first line supervisors and Communications managers; Ensure Clery Act compliance; provide oversight of technology and accreditation and supervise shift officers.

Oversee contract services related to public safety, including law enforcement and fire safety services; ensure that services provided are in accordance with contract requirements, related laws, ordinances and federal regulations.

Serve as liaison to contract service representatives, police agencies, organizations and the public; advise and provides assistance to various university stakeholders regarding issues related to public safety programs and issues.

As a member of the critical incident management team, coordinate campus emergency and disaster preparedness, response, family reunification and recovery planning.

Respond to inquiries and complaints regarding public safety services or activities; represent the University and provide crisis intervention as required to resolve problems that impact public safety.

Assistant Director

Assisted director of Public Safety with Clery compliance, emergency and disaster preparedness and supervision of seven supervisory personnel, 67 front line officers and other administrative duties, including assuming command of department in director’s absence.

Managed day-to-day operations for the safety and security of the University campuses, including collaborating with other departments on security of the campuses, planning, event staffing, coaching and evaluation of subordinates.
