I am from India working here in Tijuana since 1987. I studied 5 years of TOOL AND DIE MAKING in India and got my ‘DIPLOMA” certificate in 1982. I got 30 plus years of experience in designing and fabrication of new plastic injection molds, progressive dies, fixturing and precise machining. I have done repairs and maintenance of different types of molds from smaller molds fitting on 50-ton press to the bigger size molds fitting on 1000ton press extending continues support to the molding department. I have 12 plus years of experience in sheet metal work. I have designed and fabricated different types of progressive tools, compound tools, bending and forming tools, fine blanking etc.

Effective communicator in Spanish and English with personnel at all levels, vendors and customers. With all my employment experience and by running my own business I completely understand the importance of customer needs, working with priorities and meeting up the targets in time, doing it right for the very first time, motivating people and keeping up the disciplined working atmosphere.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

SMITH CORONA, Tijuana 1997-2001

Tool Room Manager. Taking care of three shifts with total of 22 toolmakers reporting to me. Around 55 press tools and progressive dies to repair and maintain, to produce different types of sheet and metal parts those are used in a typewriter machine. These entire tools ran in 8 presses from 40 ton to 200-ton capacity. I was also involved in giving more support to molding department with 45 injection machines ranging from 50 ton to 1000-ton presses, and to repair and maintain around 450 different types of injection molds and to all the production lines with special fixturing needs to speed up the production. Actively participated in production meetings, communication with customers, taking care of new projects in-house and overseas.

Totally 6 mold makers were reporting to me. Actively involved in the daily production meetings understanding and solving the critical issues like, timely delivery of parts, quality issues, working towards reduction of scrap, and having continuous communication with customers. I was responsible to take care of all tooling related issues of all customers.

PROGRESS LIGHTING, Tijuana. 2001-2003

Tooling Engineer. Design and modification of big size progressive dies. Taking of new projects in house and overseas. More direct communication with outside vendors from start to end of new projects. Did more modification and design improvement of the existing die for better performance.

COMAIR ROTRON, Tijuana 1991-1995

Tool Room Supervisor

I was responsible for planning, hiring, buying and organizing whole tool room workload. I had 14 Mexican mold makers reporting to me working in 2 shifts. Did repairs and major modification of varieties of Fan molds. I started a new system of handling molds adapting tag system, which helped in keeping good control over the mold movement and helped in keeping a good history of all molds. Actively participated in ISO implementation.

Employed as Mold Maker, after 2 years promoted as Group leader. Did fabrications of Progressive and compound tools and die casting molds. Most of the parts produce was for automobile industries.

Mold Maker,

Worked with different types of plastic injection molds doing lots of repairs, engineering corrections and general maintenance, Worked independently carefully studying the print and making my own decisions and doing different machining operation that is needed to complete the repair. Built few new molds and supported molding department by attending the mold problems on the machines.

Self-employed with my own Machine shop in Tijuana 2003-till now.
