Self-motivation and an effective communication style have led to new responsibilities and promotions including; being placed in charge of the Crime Suppression Unit (2011), promotion to supervise the Internal Affairs Department (2011), certification as the department’s Public Information Officer (2012) and actively gave the media updates on incidents, placement as the Sergeant at Arms for the City of Opa-Locka (2013-2015), and Administrative Sergeant (2019-2021) and Administrative Captain (2022) overseeing the departments Payroll, Records, Property and Evidence, Court Liaison for the department, Off-Duty Coordinator, Crossing Guards, Reserve Officers, Field Training Supervisor (currently), and as a Quartermaster. I have also been honored and recognized several times by the Opa-Locka City’s Commission for Humanitarian services including rescuing and saving an abducted female from St. Louis, MO, in which I received a commendation bar. I also helped lead the department in the purchasing of new equipment in 2020/2021.

●In September 2008, was promoted to the General Investigation Unit (GIU).

●In 2009, was flown out by the FBI to testify against a subject where I earned my first life savings commendation bar for saving an abducted juvenile.

●Have immediate charge of subordinates assigned to me. Instruct and assist them in their duties, and am responsible for their general appearance, good order, and discipline. Operational supervision including reviewing documentation and reports generated by subordinates for timeliness, completeness, and accuracy.

●Worked closely with our Grant Writer to request needed equipment for the Police Department.

●I obtained a free grant from the Bulletproof Vest Program (BVP) which gave the Police Department bulletproof vests for free for two years.

●Placed in charge of the City’s first ever official Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) comprised of five officers. We worked very closely with the Vice Intelligence Unit (VIN), FBI, ATF, US Marshalls, and DEA. This led to further work with a number of covert operations both inside Opa-Locka and other jurisdictions.

●I worked operations like MAGTF, Wolf Pack, Grinch, and other covert operations which composed of multiple agencies.

●Certified directly by Miami-Dade PD as Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT), a unit created to eradicate street-level drug crimes in every dangerous community from Homestead to Opa-Locka. I am one of two officers currently certified with this certification in Opa-Locka.

●Certified Police Information Officer (PIO) and have given many news interviews about homicides, shootings, fires and serious crimes in our city. This includes representing the department on a variety of public humanitarian stories.

●In May 2011, was assigned to run Internal Affairs unit which I later changed to the Professional Compliance Bureau (PCB).

●Led training and orientation for new hires while in charge of the Training Unit.

●I was responsible for hiring the last six officers sponsored by the Opa-Locka Police Department and put through the Police Academy.

●Assisted in maintaining positive relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies while working multiple cases.

●Investigated complaints against staff, and when necessary, recommended corrective action.

●From September 2013 to December 2015 was assigned to City Hall as the Sergeant at Arms.

●Here, I worked directly with the City Manager, Assistant City Manager, and the Commission on several projects which included security and safety for the old City Hall, security for the Mayor, and provided the former City Manager, Kelvin Baker directly with advice on police personnel.

●In March 2016, I assisted the FBI in their raid and close down of City Hall. I was the only employee with full access to the building during their 16 hour occupancy.

●From March 2017 to August 2017 and from August 2020 to June 2021, was assigned to Code Enforcement and was directly responsible for bringing in $144,000.00 in revenue by closing businesses with no Occupational Licenses as well as issuing over 500 parking tickets and towing over 200 vehicles.

●From 2019 to 2021, I oversaw Payroll, Records, Property, Reserve Officers, Field Training Supervisor, Schools Crossing Guards, and was the Off-Duty Coordinator.
