USMC GROUND TACTICAL MISHAP INVESTIGATOR, Naval Safety Command (then Naval Safety Center), norfolk, va, USMC

Assisted and advised Senior Members of Safety Investigator Boards, ensuring the effective conduct of the mishap investigation.

Served as the Lead Investigator advisor for the Amphibious Assault Vehicle mishap in 2020 that resulted in nine fatalities. Conducted Root Cause analysis to determine the causes of the mishap. Assisted the board in recommendations to each responsible organization to improve policies, engineering and leadership. Entered this investigation as the first investigation using the Risk Management Information (RMI) system.

Assisted in the development of RMI through feedback. Assisted fleet forces in the use of RMI through daily communication. Instructed the first RMI familiarization course designed towards safety managers and professionals at each unit.

Coordinated travel for myself and coworkers for travel to investigations and instructing the Ground Mishap Investigation Course for both CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Lead and sometimes only Instructor of the Ground Mishap Investigation Course (GMIC) for Marines, Sailors and Civilians both CONUS and OCONUS. Instructed 20, 40 hour classes from 10 -37 people at one time.

Analyzed the trends and feedback of GMIC in order to revise, improve and conduct the course in an easier to understand format that improved the learning experience, sending the students out into the workforce with a usable skill that would ensure success.

Published an article in the Ground Warrior magazine outlining Polaris MRZR vehicle safety in the Marine Corps.

Supervised, managed, and maintained billeting for 122 Marines, submitting and completing 153 maintenance requests for billeting deficiencies.

Successfully supervised and completed the movement of 75 tons of equipment via nine tractor trailers from Darwin, NT to Timber Creek, NT and back for Exercise Koolendong.

Organized the retrograde of 95 tons of equipment including four (4) UH-1Y's from RAAF Base Darwin to Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and Okinawa, Japan.

Liaised with the RAAF Catering Service to receive 323 prepared meals.

Served as Camp Commandant for a bilateral training evolution "Exercise Koolendong" in which I hosted more than 1000 US Marines, Australian Defence Force and French military members aboard the Bradshaw Field Training Area, NT, AUS.

Managed 120 personnel under my charge including platoon commanders and senior enlisted leadership.

Oversaw all functions of Headquarters Operations during two Marine Corps exercises that integrated using Japanese Forces bases with Marine Corps training

MAY 2014 – NOV 2015

MOTOR TRANSPORT PLATOON COMMANDER, Headquarters regiment, jacksonville, nc, USMC

Managed 42 personnel under my charge including senior enlisted leadership.

Oversaw all functions of Headquarters Regiment transportation platoon including maintenance and supporting other units. Ensured maintenance policies were followed and safety protocols were implemented at all times.

Moved the entire Motor Transport Platoon, 86 vehicles and trailers, from one base area to another, ensuring all policies and orders were met for the transportation and new storage of all vehicles, equipment and hazardous materials.

OCT 2013 – APR 2014

SUPPLY OFFICER, army reserves and joint forces kabul, camp phoenix, afghanistan, USMC

Worked with the Afghan Army to locate, distribute, and refine the storage system for different sets of tool boxes acquired from the U.S. forces.

Searched with Afghan Army personnel over 2,000 containers while under guard searching for specific tool boxes. Made recommendations for easier storage and distribution to the Afghan Army.

Worked in a team made up of Canadians, Australians and sometimes Turkish personnel.

Alternated between driving and manning the machine gun in the turret for the Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle over varied terrain five days a week to reach our work destination aboard an Afghan Army compound.

Managed the flight line that transported personnel and equipment to and from deployments.
