February 2019 – to date

Worked initially as a Buyer for Delta Gold mine and then moved to current position of warehouse controller

-As buyer responsible for setting up entire system procurement system from Purchase Request to goods delivery

-As a predominantly 1 man department responsible for reducing/eliminating a 9 month purchasing back log within a space of 3 months

-Assisted Department is adding a significant number of reputable approved suppliers who were not on the original list

-drew up a mine product(s) classification/categorization framework for use by the Delta Gold Project.

Warehouse Controller(WC):DeltaGold Zimbabwe, Pickstone mines and Cordillera mines.

Warehouse Controller for 3 Gold mines.

Receiving, storing, despatching and accounting for all capital and stock items bought locally and internationally for the 3 mines.

Group Buyer : Damo Resources Group

Damo Group was a mining concern with 8 ventures in Zimbabwe. The mines were in Mberengwa(2), Kwekwe, Chegutu, Mt Darwin, Karoi, Masvingo and Odzi. Responsible for procurement and logistics of all mining and construction capital and stock items for all 8 ventures. Mining alone has about 35 product categories and more than 300 stock items.

- doing weekly procurement cash flow projections for 7 of the 8 mining ventures.

-attending Operations meetings as and when required for purposes of inputting into all supply chain management issues.

Achievements

-76% Performance Evaluation score after working for 6 months as a 1 man Procurement “Department” in charge of all procurement and logistics for 2 mines which were running concurrently at that time. The score was attained against the background of acute manpower and transport shortage.

-Undertook at the Chegutu mine, a baseline inventory listing of all mining capital and stock items housed in 6 containers valued at not less than $500,000.00.This critical exercise which had not been done before became the basis for the Inventory Control System for the mine.

Ansque is an Engineering firm which later diversified into retailing industrial fasteners/bolts.

August 2008 to May 2010

Administration Manager: Goldstar Sugars (GSS)

Goldstar Sugars is the country’s sole manufacturer of white sugar. It is the flagship for Starafrica which has 8 other Strategic Business Units(SBU’s).

Reporting directly to the General Manager (GM)

In charge of the following departments/sections: Raws (Inward Bound Logistics), Procurement, Stores, Warehouse/Despatch, General Administration (Fleet management(15 vehicles), Premises, Reception) and Security/Loss Control. Largest Department in terms of sections under it and staff numbers.

Achievements:

1.Procurement of all critical inputs (sugar, coal, plastic packaging etc) and spare parts during the country’s dire economic downturn in the period stretching from about 2007 to part of 2009.My efforts enabled the refinery to keep on producing sugar in a period where other major manufacturers had drastically scaled down or stopped operations completely. Spare parts were sourced from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, South Africa, Germany, UK and Sweden.

2.One of three Managers out of total of eight Managers who retained post in a major and critical performance based Management reshuffle which took place in November 2009.

3. Successfully undertook role of GSS’s point person for Marketing consultants who were contracted to raise profile of the Starafrica Group wherein GSS was the flagship company. This was at the time that the Marketing Department was experiencing staffing problems and the Group was courting investors.

4. Successfully initiated and implemented a range of cost cutting measures in the entire Services portfolio; fleet, premises,security and procurement.

5. Initiated review and implementation of the preferred suppliers list for critical inputs.

6. Fostered a win-win relationship with all critical suppliers by structuring all major barter deals in conjunction with Finance and Marketing Department.

7.Initiated the adoption of contracting coal transporters with tipper lorries.This had the effect of drastically reducing(by 80%)off-loading times compared to manual off-loading.It also resulted in freeing off-loading personnel to do other critical duties.

April 2005 to July 2008

Administration Manager: MBCA Bank Ltd

MBCA Bank is owned by Nedbank of South Africa and transformed itself from a merchant bank to a retail bank.

Reporting to Chief Finance Officer.

Managing the following portfolios: Procurement, Premises, Fleet of 90 vehicles, Records/Archiving, Reception, Security(for 2 years), Stock Control and Asset Management, Contracts Management, Statutory returns. Supervising 25 staff members.

Achievements

1.Initiated and implemented for Nyanga Cottage staff members a scheme whereby staff members were remunerated through groceries and not money which was being eroded by inflation. The scheme was later replicated throughout the Bank and had a positive impact on the Bank’s Industrial Relations environment.

2.Implemented a very cost effective scheme of availing fuel for both Bank and non-Bank vehicles when the erratic supply of fuel was starting to disrupt day to day operations of every Section especially corporate banking who had a significant share of commercial agriculture clients and had to undertake field visits. Fuel availed to staff members with non-Bank/private vehicles resulted in a significant improvement in Industrial Relations of the Bank.

3. Bank’s representative in a Consultant-led project designed to harvest synergies of 4 Group Companies namely: MBCA Bank, Old Mutual, CABS and RM Insurance. Consultants recommended Group-wide adoption of best practice for Fleet Management and Procurement based on the MBCA model both of which fell under my portfolio.

4. First line control of Bank’s overall capital expenditure before final approval by Chief Finance Officer.

5.Succesfully negotiated with Nissan Clover Leaf the Bank’s biggest vehicle purchasing scheme whereby Bank’s forward- buying strategy of buying 23 vehicles in one go adequately cushioned the Bank from the hyper-inflation environment obtaining at that time.

6. Succesfully negotiated with Old Mutual a very cost effective arrangement to acquire all their partitioning material when the Bank took over 2 floors at Old Mutual Centre.This was at a time when gypsum boards and other requisite partitioning materials were no longer available in Zimbabwe but only from South Africa resulting in significant savings for the Bank.

April 2003 to March 2005

Assistant Manager: Administration: Interfin Merchant Bank

Reporting to Finance Director

In charge of the following portfolios : Procurement, Administration, Fleet(33 vehicles), Premises, Stock and Asset management, Security systems installation.

Supervision of 9 staff members.

Achievements:

1. Authored the Procurement Policy for the Bank.

2. Spear-headed and implemented as Project Manager a very successful office renovations/ shopfitting and Electronic Security Project worth Z$1m at Interfin Merchant Bank, Bulawayo. The 5 month project was finished on time and within budget.

3. Succesfully implemented and managed a Harare Office Electronic Security Project after successfully completing the Bulawayo one.

4.Initiated, implemented and managed Banks vehicle policy resulting in cost savings of not less than 50%.This was at a time when the Bank had no vehicle policy at all and staff members were exploiting the resultant loopholes.

Assistant Manager: Administration: NMB Bank Ltd

NMB was a top range Bank that was twice voted Bank of the Year and was listed on the UK Stock Exchange.

Reporting to the Administration Manager.

Duties included: Procurement, Administration, Fleet management (48 vehicles)

Stock and Asset Management, Supervision of Receptionists.

Supervision of 15 staff members.

Achievements:

1.I procured capital goods for the branch roll-out programme for 4 branches. All items were procured well on time and at competitive prices through forward buying.

July 2000 – August 2001

Administrator/Buyer: Century Bank.

Century Bank was the first in-store Bank in the Country and had 11 Branches country-wide.

Reporting to Chief Finance Officer and in charge of 8 staff members.

Duties

Procurement, Administration, Fleet management(18 vehicles), Asset and Stock management.

Achievements:

1.Authored the Procurement Policy and Vehicle Management Policy.

2Authored Service Level Agreement for entire department.

3.Succesfully represented not just Century Bank but Century Holdings in the Strategic Purchasing and Supply Management (SPASM) initiative in conjunction with Delta (OK, Chibuku, Megapak, Bulawayo Sun Hotel etc). I was able to competently stand in and take over this important strategic function of the Century Holdings Company Secretary at a time when I was still considered a non-managerial employee.

4. Succesfully negotiated as Chief Negotiator on behalf of the Bank for procurement of all second hand assets (except vehicles) from Barclays Bank when Century Bank took over Barclays (Eagle House) Bank in Bulawayo. The assets so acquired had a value of more than Z$1m.

1991 – 2000 - worked at a senior administrative level for Ministry of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement (MLARR), University of Zimbabwe and Econet Wireless.

Achievements

1. MLARR:Just 3 months after joining the Ministry I was the author of Ministry’s Monthly Report To Cabinet. This was a detailed report based on the monthly activities of 22 organisations that fell under the Ministry. In almost all Ministries such work was undertaken by very senior officials at the level of Under Secretary and upwards.

2. I was the main coordinator and focal point of all regional, continental and international visitors coming to Zimbabwe to study our agriculture success story after the country won an international prize for Poverty alleviation in 1992.

+Worked for a Japanese NGO- Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) - worked as

Administrator for two and a half years.I assisted in setting up of their administrative system when the Japanese Embassy weaned off JICA.Undertook all administration and procurement issues, immigration formalities, all accommodation issues as well volunteers’ pre-deployment feasibility exercises.

+ At Econet Wireless I was equipped with entry level skills in purchasing capital and stock items. In charge of fleet of approximately 40 vehicles as well as asset and stock management.

Field Researcher for British- based NGO, Overseas Development Institute (ODI). Worked on
