Men's Residential Counselor
DACCO, Is Now Cove Behavioral Health, LLC. - Tampa, FL January 2021 to May 2021
• Conducted weekly client individual counseling sessions for caseload of 25 clients.
• Attended Wednesday Weekly Treatment Team Staffing facilitated by The Clinical Team Manager & included other team members such as the Clinical Team Program Director, Clinical Director, psychiatrist, RN, Social workers & on occasion Assigned Probation Officers as counselors presented clients for staffing for violation of program rules, staffing for placement or progress on Behavioral Contract, recommended for phasing up & getting their Phase dot, presenting new cases, recommendations for successful discharge, transfer to Aftercare Program, Program Team
• Facilitated Psychoeducational, Process, & Circle Out Groups for clients successfully competing DACCO 4, 6 or longer Residential Treatment Program.
• Successfully administered CPR/First Aid, rescue breaths & mouth-to-mouth necessitation to a DACCO Residential working phase client who accidentally OD & was not breathing & no heart beat for over 34 minutes because responding EMT's went to 3 wrong locations before they arrived on the scene.
• After EMT's worked on reviving the client, I formed a process group, shutdown outside recreation to contain all clients under the direct supervisor of behavioral techs to ensure no other clients went outside to bury any drugs or paraphernalia & directed a BHT's to initiate an Incident Report, directed the other BHT to the front entrance to guide responding EMT's to the client that died from an overdose while I continued life saving COR/First Aid til EMT's carried client to the ambulance & administered Norean to revive client to resume his heart beat & breathing on his own.
• I Notified my supervisor, requested he get approval from the RN for BHT's to administer clients anxiety medications & those not receiving medications, I formed an impromptu process group so that group members had a farm to express what they're thinking and feeling and have it validated by group members as well as this facilitator.
• Which prevented clients from absconding, fighting, or making agitated decisions that would have negative consequences for themselves.
• I empowered clients involved in this drug desktop voluntarily come to my office truth the remaining drugs & so BHT's could search the dorms for the remaining drugs & contraband to restore the dorms to a safe & drug free environment.
• I preserved the video footage of the two clients; one jumped the fence, returned with drugs, sold it to the other client on camera to the client after smoking the drug, he immediately OD & died because the heroine was cut with Fentanyl.
• After EMT's revive client, I held a 2nd process group to inform all residents that client was okay so that can calm down, relax & gave the group deep breathing, muscle relaxation & thought distractions techniques that I demonstrated to assist the clients with shitting down their alerting system, turning off their adrenaline so they all could go to sleep.
• I submitted my 30-day resignation & resigned on 5/5/2021, because in spite of my recommendations to make the residential environment a safe place for staff & client by reinstating the barbed wire fencing to limit & prevent clients from jumping the fence, buying & selling drugs to client's in the working phase of treatment, however, the team ignored the pink elephant in the room.
• So, I resigned because I didn't want to remain working in an environment that was unsafe for clients, staff & I didn't want to continue working there when another client Odd and died because next time Norean could be administered & it may not bring the client back to life.
