PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

COGNIZANT

Cognizant, Raleigh NC Consultant/Big data Engineer

Cognizant Project Deployment Pool Jun 2019 - Sep 2019

Cognizant (AAP Project) Apr 2019 - May 2019

Data Engineer and member of store reporting project at customer location focused on delivering an enhanced and more agile reporting system to AAP management and other stakeholders. Team was responsible for transforming (ingested data which was extracted from various sources) using AWS services such as AWS Glue, Lambda, Step Functions etc. and loading the transformed data into the snowflake database. (Short project due to reduction in scope of project activities that eliminated my role in the project)

In preparation for the store reporting project, familiarized with ETL tools such as AWS Glue, Lambda, PySpark, Python, Boto3 etc. Created a Glue job utilizing inbuilt features of AWS Data Catalog, Crawlers etc. to generate unified schema and metadata properties for a mini project.

Mini project was to combine multiple test source files (first with .csv files and then with .json files) with same data structure/schema but different data in each .csv or .json file into one unified schema using the data catalog; and then using a glue job with Pyspark and Lambda to transform the files into a single file in parquet format through the coalesce command.

Cognizant, Irving TX Consultant/Big data Engineer Feb 2019 - Mar 2019

Contributed to the Test data generation project (project planning, design & coding) in the Cognizant IMS solution center developed using python tkinter. Project was focused on developing a solution to be used by internal Cognizant customers for generating random test data based on their own models.

Learnt python tkinter GUI features and how to design screens to add, modify, delete test data, and generate response to data entered by user (based on functional requirements/use cases). Worked on design and coding aspects assigned from the project and collaborated with other team members on the project at daily scrum meetings.

Led/Facilitated the daily scrum meetings to ensure team was self-organized, impediments were resolved, and progress was made in line with the sprint plan towards the business objective.

Platform by PerScholas Data Engineering Case Study Project September 2018 – December 2018

Developed Java program to get customer details from relevant tables in case study - MySQL project database according to requirements in the functional specification document. Some of these details include

functional specification using Sqoop and loaded the output data into Hive running on top of Hadoop

File System (HDFS) for data partitioning and further transformation.

Developed Oozie job to automate the ETL process initially with full and then with incremental

imports with the aid of job.properties, coordinator.xml, workflow.xml and Sqoop jobs run through

the meta store.Performed data analysis and visualization on the data that imported from MySQL using

Sqoop and loaded into Hive.

I was selected to participate in a 12 weeks full time development hands-on program sponsored and developed by Cognizant as a pipeline into the data engineering field.
