USA JUDO, Colorado Springs, CO August 2016 – Present CEO/Executive Director

•Lead one of 55 National Governing Bodies within the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Movement; responsible for Olympic & Paralympic athlete development and overall growth and development of judo in the U.S.

•Successfully resolved an inherited USOPC Section 10 financial probation in three months and restored strong fiscal management resulting in a positive net revenue in two years while also paying off past debts.

•Created comprehensive strategic and tactical plans with board of directors, consultants and constituents to improve organizational performance: individual membership (16%), club membership (8%), national event participation (55%), social media exposure (441%), fundraising revenue (250%).

•Created Police Professionals & PAL (P3) Program to use Judo techniques and training to alleviate violent arrests and used of lethal force while developing communities through 21st Century Policing Philosophy.

•Led organization through pandemic to recover with stronger programming and quickly approaching pre-pandemic numbers which were highest in at least the last 17 years of recorded analytics.

•One of first NGBs to partner with LA Recreation & Parks District to build youth judo program now in 22 recreation centers serving 1,700 participants since its inception in 2019.

•In the first 4 months of 2022, USA Judo Athletes have won 40 medals, mostly younger athletes identified as potential candidates for the Paris 2024 and LA 2028 Olympic Games.

•Re-wrote bylaws to meet USOPC requirement and re-structure board and group membership to grow sport.

YMCA OF THE PIKES PEAK REGION, Colorado Springs, CO October 2013 – August 2016 Executive Director, Southeast Family Center/Armed Services & Fountain Valley YMCA Branches

•Led two branches in most disadvantaged neighborhoods with a combined membership of 9K and budget of $3.4 million, including fiscal oversight of more than $1 million in grants over a two-year term.

•Built partner relationships with school districts, municipal/community-based and military organizations.

•Increased membership retention by nearly 7.5% in 21 months.

•Achieved fundraising goals in first two years after failure of centers to meet goals for several years.

•Created stability among staff & implemented strategic plan to be a break-even Y for first time in its history.

•Recognized as one of the top two ranked Armed Services YMCA affiliates in the U.S. during my tenure.

•Led design to implementation of 2014 Team USA Ambassador Program, including on-line course, website and in-person program for the hundreds of Olympic & Paralympic hopefuls preparing for Sochi Games.

•Directed strategy and cross-functional team to create Team USA Ambassador Program, preparing 2012 U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Teams for optimal performances: 55 programs in 11 months with 4.5/5 rating.

•Created and hosted first-ever USOC HR Summit featuring 13 HR executives from 11 USOC partners.

•Hired and managed first-ever USOC archivist and 4,000+ item collection and helped solicit major gift.

•Developed and grew Olympic Day Program to set USOC records. 2013: 715 events/568 cities/215,000 participants/ 600+athletes/ all 50 states/six international locations.

•Directed U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame nomination process and involved with 2009 ceremony logistics.

•Village Press Officer for 2010 U.S. Olympic Team. Managed visits of Vice President Biden and other VIPs.

•Part of leadership team to renew Adecco’s four-year USOC sponsorship of the Athlete Career Program.

•Created original Ambassador Program for 2008 U.S. Teams: 30 sessions in U.S./China (1,000+ athletes).

•2008 US Olympic Team Village Press Officer, managed media requests at Games & White House Visit.

•Within one week, delivered 1,000 disaster relief tents to China, following the 2008 earthquake disaster.

•Established partnership with Adecco to create a world-leading Athlete Career Program that served 2,500+ participants. U.S. program recognized as “best practice leader” and template for other countries.

•2006 U.S. Olympic Team Village Press Officer during highest medal total achieved for a winter U.S. Olympic Team competing on foreign soil at that time.

•Press attaché for U.S. Speedskating Team in Seoul, Korea, successfully coordinating all public relations for Apolo Anton Ohno in a challenging security, public relations and sport performance environment.

•Designed and implemented Athlete Speaker’s Referral Network, a website allowing the general public to directly contact athletes for speaking appearances.

Associate Director, Athlete Development Programs Division July 2003 –March 2005

•Increased budget responsibility from $148,000 to $2 million.

•Conducted national and international SUMMIT events that contributed to best medal performance ever (at that time) by a winter U.S. Olympic Team at the 2002 Games.

•International Athlete Services Forum tripled in size under my organization of second-ever event and as a founding member of the International Athlete Services Steering Committee.

•Created Athlete Services Centers and all related programming at three USOC Olympic Training Centers utilized by thousands of athletes.

•Developed and implemented first virtual athlete services center website with sponsor, Monster.com.
