ALLELOPATHIC EFFECT OF CERTAIN WEEDS ON Vigna radiata and Sorghum bicolor In both sandwich and pot culture method, all the extracts inhibited seed germination of the test crops. All the four weed extracts with concentrations of 3ml and 5ml showed significant decrease in the length of shoot and Root of V.radiata and S.bicolor.

Mostly Parthenium hysterophorus L. Weed extract showed great decrease in the growth of the above crops. Extraction and characterization of essential oil from Ocimum santum L. Citrus sinensis L. and Tagetes erecta L.

Plants produce essential oils, which are fragrant, highly volatile chemicals. Due to their volatility, these chemicals can be isolated by steam distillation method. To conclude essential oil has abundant properties with ability of treating a condition thus such oils can be identified, extracted and characterised from various unexplored plant species and used accordingly.
