Operates the medical center switchboard and responds to internal and external calls, paging inquiry, codes and/or overhead paging requests. Performs general clerical duties including and not limited to faxing, copying, scanning, filing and documenting information as needed. Organizing the telecommunications schedule book and requesting schedules from departments as needed. Assistance in working with telecommunication devices (phones, cell phones and pagers- swaps and activations) is required. Scheduling yearly OHS reviews, yearly Non-Clinical Annual Reviews, updating and educating staff of any and all changes that may be made to Code and/or office procedures as they occur. Review, update and maintain Telecommunications department's operating procedure manuals, training manuals, handouts.

In addition, shadows new operators to direct them when needed in various situations (codes and difficult to manage calls) and give feedback when needed. Handles phone issues that need to be escalated. Notifies telecommunications technicians of any emergency issues. Lead and handle routine and emergency situations. Help to maintain proper and adequate switchboard coverage on all shifts in the absence of manager/secretary.

Knowledge of MS Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), type 35 wpm, customer service and business etiquette required. Knowledge of Nortel and Cisco phone console along with the ability to handle, swap and activate pagers as necessary. Use of fax machine, scanner, copy machine and personal computers with automated operator functions. Knowledge of paging program, emergency notification program, MMC telecom directory along with extensive use of Microsoft outlook is required.
