RICHARD D. CRANDALL
SKILLS & ABILITIES
I have been functioning as a Paramedic Preceptor since 2003. As a Paramedic Preceptor, I am responsible for assisting new state paramedics in learning our advanced medical protocols. I am also responsible for educating, evaluating, and reporting to my superiors and the FIT committee on each intern's progress. Since my employment, I have assisted countless interns in helping them achieve an autonomous status as a paramedic within the department.
EXPERIENCE
MAITLAND FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT, MAITLAND, FLORIDA
6/7/2000-Present
Starting my employment as a FF/EMT, I worked up through the ranks, eventually being promoted as a Lieutenant/Paramedic. I became a Paramedic in the year 2002. 1 year later I was chosen to be a Paramedic Preceptor where I assisted newly State Certified Paramedics in becoming an autonomous Paramedic within our department.
In 2003, I was promoted to Engineer/Paramedic and in 2007 I was promoted to Lieutenant/Paramedic. In the role of the Lieutenant, I was in charge of 6 shift personnel. My responsibilities included training, overseeing, and evaluating each member on my assigned shift. In 2008, I was selected to ride up in the position of Battalion, where I have commanded several emergency scenes throughout my career.
I have been a Paramedic Preceptor since 2003. I am responsible for the Q/A of EMS reports on a shift basis. Since my employment, in the year 2000, I have attended most of the monthly medical director meetings being initiated by Dr. Todd Husty. Each meeting, we reviewed critical calls and were able to receive constructive criticism and direction in EMS on how to critically think outside of the box making me a better Paramedic each time that I attended.
I have been responsible for many projects including SCBA In House repair, the repair of Multi-Gas Detectors, PEER Support Group and Chaplain program.
I was responsible for creating and maintaining a yearly operational financial budget for each program. I would submit a 5 year Fiscal Year Plan for each program and adjust where needed every new Fiscal Year.
During my employment, I received numerous certificates and attended many classes to better myself and to enhance my career in the fire service.

I am responsible for Lab Days. This responsibility requires me to draw blood from patients and prepare it so it can be sent out to labs for processing. In addition, with the results are ready, it is my responsibility to review the labs and determine if the results need to be seen by the doctor before their appointment.
I am also responsible for obtaining the patient’s vital signs and entering the information into the patient charting system which is digital. I am also responsible for triaging phone calls and determining if the patients can be seen in the office or whether or not they need to be sooner such as an E.R. or they are to call 911. In addition, I am responsible for refilling patient’s prescriptions with the patient’s pharmacies.
