Jon Bowman here. Just a quick note to say congratulations on all awards coming your way!
Several stations have been asking me to fill a role as Race and Culture Reporter. Retired, as I am, I have been holding out for a right fit I guess before applying for any of those slots. Unsure if I really wanted to be ‘pigeon-holed’ as just a race reporter. That said, if there was a way to help with coverage of communities of color, while also being a ‘full-coverage’ reporter when situations warranted, that would be a position which would fit in coming back to tell stories about this wonderful place we call home.
Pretty sure I offer a lot of professionalism, history, and love of Colorado, having been in 5280 for 39 years—almost native status—and probably been to more parts of this great state than most natives.
Would love to join a news team that is moving up in the world of streaming, FBlive, and new media.

Jon Bowman is a long-time Denver journalist Denver. In many circles, he is considered to be the “Dean of Denver’s Black Journalists”. Jon has been involved with television, print, radio, cable, social media and podcast dispensing of news and opinion broadcasting, in the Mile High City, for quite a few decades. Now, Jon is one of the ‘vets’ of the business with a bit more to give, which is why he applying for the position.

Jon has extensive experience in all forms of news dissemination, along with knowledge of PR and Marketing work as well. He is a quick learner of many formats, and has excellent contacts thru out the Metro and state.
Bowman Is well connected in political arenas along with the Black, Hispanic and LBGT communities — a great Rolodex, as they say.
Have worked with many folks at various outlets in Denver, in both News and Sports. Jon has worked as a championship Basketball Coach-boys & girls. And as a State Championship girls soccer coach with Club Denver. Coaching and sports officiating led to a ‘staring cameo’ in the movie LADYBUGS, with Rodney Dangerfield, which was shot here in Mile High!
Think he would be the most well-rounded candidate for most positions you are looking to fill.. step-in-ready. In fact, I guess ‘Fired up and Ready to Go’ is motto of my life!
