School Education:

John Cowie Junior School, Rusape, Rhodesia (1961-1967).

Pretoria Afrikaans Boys High, South Africa (1968-1972). Matric results: distinctions in English, Mathematics, Science, Physics, Accountancy. School colours for academics and swimming.

University Training:

Pretoria University (1973-1978). Graduated with Bachelors Degree in Surgical Dentistry (B.Ch.D.).

Military Training

National service as a dental officer in the Rhodesian Army (1978-1979)

Postgraduate Training and Employment History:

Associate dentist in the practice of Mr. Brian Refson, Stevenage, England (1979-1981).

Practice owner in Finsbury Park and Stamford Hill, London, England. Sold both the practices in 1984 in order to pursue periodontology postgraduate studies in Boston, U.S.A.

In September, 1984 started Masters Programme in Periodontology (M.Sc.D.) at the Henry M. Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry, Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Completed two research projects, results published in the International Journal for Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry. Both projects involved investigation into possible methods for regenerating lost periodontal attachment apparatus:

i) Treatment of Periodontal Infrabony Defects, using Lyophilised Decalcified Dentin. A Histological Study in Dogs.

ii) Guided Tissue Regeneration in the Dog, using Polygalactin-910 Resorbable Mesh (Vicryl).

Graduated in August, 1987 receiving:

i) Master of Science in Periodontology (M.Sc.D. Periodontology)

ii) Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Periodontology (C.A.G.S. Periodontology).

October, 1988: completed Part I of the Diplomate Board Examination of the American Board of Periodontology.

May, 1996: successfully completed final examination for Diplomate status of the American Board of Periodontology.

September, 1987 - May, 1989: appointed as assistant Professor for Periodontics in the Department of Dental Prosthetics (Chairman: Prof.Dr.Dr. H. Spiekermann), University-Hospital Aachen, Germany. Duties included:

i) Periodontal / Implant treatment of Perio-Prosthetic cases in the department.

ii) Clinical supervision and periodontal didactic teaching of the undergraduate dental students.

iii) Clinical research.

2018 - Present : Bought small private practice in WOOL near Poole, Dorset, UK to be run as a referring Specialist Private Practice limited to Periodonics, Dental Implants and Professional Oral Hygiene.

Have practised Implant Dentistry for over 30 years. Some of the systems placed over this period include Niznick Corevent Screwvent; Kirsch IMZ / Straumann; Lazzara 3I / Biomet; Branemark Nobelbiocare; Trinon Germany Q-Implant.

Other academic activities:

2001–2008 Dewaal-Implants acquires distributor rights for UK & Ireland for the TRINON Q-Implant-Systems

2004- incorporated use of BIOLASE Waterlase laser system in specialist kperiodontics and surgical implantology.

2005 – intensive training & certification (London & Nottingham) in the use of Botox and synthetic fillers in the peri-oral and peri-orbital areas.

February 2005 – appointed as Visiting Professor in Periodontics & Implantology at the Zimbabwe University Dental School. Visit 2 weeks per year.

February 2011 – completed courses and started use of BTI – PRGF (plama rich in growth factor) in clinical treatments of periodontal and implant patients.

April 2016 - completed Pinhole Course in Alhambra California and now member Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation Academy.

April 2017 - completed Khoury Bone Regeneration Hands-on 4 day Course, at Bob Lamb IDEA Institute in San Francisco, USA.

May 2017 - completed Prof Makdissi's 2 day JM Radiology CBCT Masterclass in Southampton, UK.
